"Who wrote this?"
Zoe had also finished reading the words on the paper and was looking at Li Ang.
Judging by her eyes, she seemed to have an answer and was just waiting for Li Ang to confirm it.
"It should be your father."
"What do the words above mean?"
"I don't know either."
Li Ang was completely clueless about the "Star Soul" mentioned in the text.
It sounded like something extraordinary, closely tied to the young girl's Star Soul constitution.
This world is vast indeed, full of things even celestial group members don't know.
Li Ang turned to the next page and found that although it had dates, it wasn't a diary, just a record of important events.
"Guild Calendar Year 291, November 17
"This island is indeed too remote, and the islanders seem like another species entirely. It's hard to communicate with them, and even when speaking in their way of thinking, they take a long time to understand. Lily got bored and dragged me to a nearby island's market to buy all sorts of strange books. On the way, we noticed the presence of the organization's people; they managed to track us to Flos Sky Realm.
"I've been summarizing my lifelong swordsmanship and conceptualizing a sword technique suitable for Zoe. Ideally, after learning it, she'll understand how to use her own power. With her kind of constitution, a peaceful life is destined to be impossible."
291 was also the year Li Ang traveled over here; he probably saved enough for his first professional upgrade around October.
Zoe blinked: "My constitution?"
"Keep reading," Li Ang said.
"Guild Calendar Year 292, January 14
"Although Lily sometimes causes more trouble than Zoe, she's always concerned about Zoe's future. I often see her gazing at the end of the Sea of Clouds, confirming this notion.
"Neither of us expected our child to be so special. What's the underlying reason? We have no idea. We can only speculate it's the Power of Stars within me combined with the Divine Power of the deity she once served.
"Today we discussed this matter at length."
Zoe looked at Li Ang and asked, "What do their powers mean?"
Li Ang pondered silently.
Now, he was certain that this girl's parents weren't ordinary Sky Knights. Being a Sky Knight was just one identity, and it couldn't define them completely.
In many aerial realms, even individuals and forces that celestial groups and guilds find mysterious exist. Zoe's parents seemed to be among those people.
"Guild Calendar Year 292, August 9
"Cha'ain sent me a message saying he discovered new ruins, different from the Divine Remnant site at Dark Night Ancient City, as many mechanisms in those ruins were still functional, potentially offering a lot of information. The downside is, the organization also has its eyes on it.
"However, today, there's worse news. Due to an earthquake, a crack opened on the ground in our home's basement, which I immediately recognized as the Island Heart Passage.
"Our home's location was chosen by Zoe; she picked it right away, as if by a cursed destiny. I have a bad premonition that it might become real."
Li Ang looked up at the well weighed down by the giant stone; that must be the passage. Or rather, it's not a well; the stone bricks were placed there for convenient access.
The name Cha'ain sounded somewhat familiar...
"Was the location of our home really chosen by me? I don't remember at all." Zoe said beside him.
Perhaps it was some kind of instinct. Li Ang thought as he looked at her exquisite profile.
People from unknown races often possess special talents, and some can even predict natural disasters after connecting spiritually with nature. Zoe might have been in some kind of connection at that time.
"What's an Island Heart Passage?" Zoe asked.
That, Li Ang knew.
"The floating Sky Islands in the clouds have many minerals inside them. These minerals contain various energies, and sometimes they cause the center of a Sky Island to hollow out. Occasionally, this energy drifts to the surface and opens passages that lead to the island's center."
"Are there pretty stones in the island's center?" Zoe's eyes lit up.
"There certainly are."
Not only are there stones, but the most precious minerals in this world originate from the Island Heart.
"Can we go take a look?"
"Let's not rush; let's see if your father has more records." Li Ang glanced at the giant stone, feeling uneasy.
Li Ang turned to the following pages.
"Year 292, October 4
"After digging and exploring, Lily and I reached the Island Heart of Satus Island.
"Damn! Damn! Damn! We only knew this was a remote and barren island, never guessing its center between mountain stones and mineral veins held remnants of Divine People ruins.
"Its power still nurtured a Star Soul. Even though Satus Island is so barren, it finally incubated over endless time. No wonder Zoe has been sleeping long hours recently.
"Lily and I exterminated the Star Soul, and its power might take seven or eight years to regenerate."
Li Ang rubbed his temples as Zoe looked puzzled beside him, but he knew she, as the world's female lead, was the real deal.
Now, it seemed he was truly caught up in something big.
He still couldn't understand what Star Souls were, but the writing left by Zoe's father closely resembled the Sky Knights' understanding of the "King of the Island."
They are Super Demons ruling the Sky Islands, vastly different from ordinary demons.
Demons aren't animals evolved in nature; they're monstrous species created by magic power interfering with the material world.
Some demons are created by intelligent beings, but typically, they arise from sporadic magical disasters like space distortion or dimensional merging because only in such moments does atmospheric magic interfere with the material world without spirit guidance.
Yet the King of the Island remains mysterious both in origin and ecology, doesn't reproduce a species, as if embodying the Sky Island, eternally dwelling upon it.
Hundreds of years ago, someone killed a King of the Island, causing the island to desolate for a long time. After forming the Sky Knight Guild, adventurers were forbidden from attacking island kings.
Li Ang had heard of some islands having regenerating island kings. This description closely aligned with what Zoe's father wrote.
The more fertile the island, the greater the chance of a King of the Island existing there.
It's true Satus Island didn't appear to have a King of the Island, but according to her father's notes, its existence stemmed from remnants, an unknown domain to Li Ang.
Beside Li Ang, Zoe fell into silence, possibly digesting the utterly misunderstood information.
Li Ang wanted to talk to her but felt the ground trembling beneath their feet.
The ceiling boards of the basement dropped volumes of dust, and the entire house, or rather, perhaps the entire Satus Island began to shake.
"What is this, what's happening!" Zoe exclaimed in alarm, clutching Li Ang's arm.
"It's an earthquake. Let's head over there."
With Zoe by his side, Li Ang guided her to a supporting pillar in the basement corner, shielding her with one hand while trying to perceive the Earth Spirit. If the earthquake intensified, he hoped to summon an Earth Giant to protect them.
However, the Earth Spirit still didn't respond.
During an earthquake, it should be the Earth Spirit's active moment.
Roar—!
That deep roaring sound, seemingly originating from the abyss, echoed once more, like the constant blare of a Bone Flute or the blast of a horn, resonating through everything tangible.
"What should we do... My head hurts..."
Zoe helplessly curled up in a corner.
The roaring suddenly gathered and ceased, and the young girl opened her teary eyes.
"Is it over?"
"Don't move."
Li Ang sternly instructed Zoe to maintain her protective stance.
He looked intently at the deep well in the basement; in his spiritual perception, the wellhead suddenly spewed out a massive energy of Earth Spirit as the roaring ceased.
These energies were invisible to the naked eye but as intense as causing the seal patterns on the giant stone to decompose, and the stone itself was returning to the earth.
Boom!
A violent explosion resounded instantly throughout the basement, the giant stone shattered entirely, and the wellhead burst forth dust reaching the ceiling, turning into a cloud of dust.
Something was emerging from the wellhead!
Just before the giant stone shattered, Li Ang had already rallied all his stored magic power and unleashed it in one quick burst.
