Chapter 6 - A mistake (4)

"Ha... It's quite satisfying to crush heads like this. Don't you agree? Old man."

"...how did you find where I lived?"

"Oh?.. you just saw someone getting killed but that's your first question?"

"Just answer my question."

"Oh my, how scary~ you're weaker than me anyways, so why should I?"

"Then so be it."

The old geezer pointed his sword at the dark human.

"I'll take your head today, here and now."

"How cruel of you to say that to the only friend you have left..."

Even though he said such words, his voice was anything but sad. He was only making fun of my grandpa.

They started fighting at speeds my eyes couldn't follow, they were at a level that could kill humans like ants.

Just like how Liam's head was crushed earlier..

They were at an equal fighting power so it would normally end in stalemate in most cases..

But the difference between them was the fact the dark human could regenerate and the old geezer couldn't.

So in the end, the old geezer would lose... I need to do something, it's my fault all of this happened...

Liam is dead, Liam is dead.. because of me... No, I could've never saved anyone. I'm not a hero like those in books. I'm way too weak!

If only I was strong enough I could've protected both Liam and grandpa, and I probably wouldn't die here..

Just as my mind was filled with all sorts of negative thought..

A head went flying in front of me, and the dark human bastard was still standing, with a sword stuck in his heart. He took the sword to his heart and traded it for my old geezer's head.

It was the head of my geezer, I completely lost all rationality that moment. But more than that, I was completely devastated due to seeing someone I loved getting killed in front of me.

But.. even worse that bastard still had it's f*cking head on! F*ck, isn't this too unfair? Even though the old geezer managed to stab him in the heart, he's just regenerating now and doesn't seem like he'll die from it.

Something is wrong here... Something is wrong! Ah.. now I realize what it is. This wasn't a story of a hero. You don't get to say your goodbyes before moments of death.

That's a not a luxury everyone had. Even here, my grandfather only died fighting. He didn't have any time to spare to say his goodbyes to me.

Moreover, he was trying to protect me. If he had left and abandoned the library then he could've lived. F*ck all of this began because I wanted to save that stupid boy.

I should've just lived quietly and peacefully like my grandfather told me. I shouldn't have went looking for trouble to make myself seem like some hero the moment I went outside...

It was all my fault, the dark human wouldn't have found this place if I didn't try saving Liam, I didn't know I was this powerless back then.

It was a mistake, my mistake... And my grandfather's already dead... Ahh, I can't fix anything anymore, can I? Am I really going to die just like this?

What about the story of me becoming a hero?... F*ck that, even if I'm reborn as a talented mage next life I'm not going to become a hero anymore.

At a time like this where the dark human was weakened, wouldn't it have been best for me to take the chance and kill it?...

Well, no. It can kill me in a blink of an eye as soon as I get close. I needed to keep my distance if I wanted to live a few seconds more.

But there was nothing for me to gain through surviving just a few seconds, was there?..

Ha..ha.. I have made another mistake, I should've just f*cked up everything that moment and went for his head.

But it doesn't matter anymore. The dark human already recovered... And it finally made noise, f*cking disgusting noises..

"Ahhh... How nice, you were truly worth it to fight, Thomas, my old friend."

"But what a pity.. if only you weren't so focused on remaining human, you could've extended your life using dark magic!"

"Then you would've become a stronger dark human than me and we could've crushed all those weaker humans than us!"

"Sigh, you just never understood why I betrayed heroes to become like this, Thomas.."

"Truly a pity, you had to retire being a hero of old age.. and you're finally dying at my hands.. without even marking your name in history."

I stared at the dark human with an empty expression, I was infuriated yet I couldn't do anything. I can't even manage my expression anymore...

"When will you f*cking shut up?.."

"Huh?.. What?"

"Just fucking shut up!"

"Oh..? Who are you to tell me such, the dear grandson of my friend Thomas.."

"It's such a pity i didn't get his gift of talent with swords.. it could've been quite useful."

"... I'm going to kill you."

"Hmm, how will you do that?"

"I'll kill you through any means."

There was no logic left in my words, I couldn't think of anything else other than wanting to kill that bastard.

"I see.. I like it, I like it. Such an overwhelming bloodlust!"

"Too bad you're too weak to even scratch me properly."

Finally, the dark human was coming at me and kill me... Right. My misery will f*cking end up. Just as I thought, I felt my hands being crushed after being stopped on by with his legs.

"Hmm, no screams? You're completely broken, huh?"

I didn't scream, It wasn't that I couldn't feel the pain, I just didn't care anymore. Whether it was my mistake that led to all of this happening or not...

Whether I could never be a hero or not, it didn't matter anymore. "F*ck you"

"Alright.. since you don't seem like you'd even have any useful gifts anyways, I'll just kill you now."

He grabbed my head to crush it, but just before he could do so...
