A week later Mason had been relocated to a manor outside Munich , it belonged to one of the executed red Lion executives.
He had spent time reviewing the assistants that he was getting from the empire. And after his little questioning, he had selected ten guards and five forging assistants.
After he was done he received word that the land he wanted in Siberia had been purchased and also that he should be expecting a shipment of rubber from his Asian counterparts.
The area Mason chose to buy in Siberia was the Ikustk region in western Siberia. This was one of the major oil and gas exploration sites for Russia in the other earth so he was hoping that there would be oil there for him to use .
First thing he did when he got the news was to make a steam powered oil drill. It took another week for it to be built with the help of the forgers he had with him . He had dubbed them engineers because the precision of their work was uncanny.
When they reached the land in Siberia, they set up the drill and started it up . They all stood in anticipation waiting as the drill worked its way into the ground.
Mason watched the drill clearly impatient, the steam drill was not practical as it was slow and made too much noise. He wished that the drill would work faster so he could make internal combustion engines that would work ten times effectively.
Four cold hours later , they struck oil. The workers didn't know what the black goey substance coming out of the ground was but Mason was overjoyed at the sight of the infamous black gold coming out of the ground.
He decided that instead of transporting the crude oil back to the empire, he would build a refinery that would be used to refine the oil before transportation back to Prussia.
With his current team, it could take a year and half at least to build the refinery of his choice so he decided to scale it down to produce at least one thousand liters of petroleum and diesel in a day . This would taste a few weeks of production to complete.
He went back to his manor with just one forging assistant and they began working on an internal combustion engine . The assistant was making the parts while Mason was assembling the machine.
The beauty of magic was that the assistant could make hundreds of parts without getting tired and because the engine was made out of cast iron, it was relatively easier . Working with cast iron was like using paper boxes or wood to work , it was relatively easy.
Within three days , the first internal combustion engine had been produced. It was a four cylinder engine made in an inline 4 style.
The sound of this engine purring sent smiles across Mason's face . Even the assistant without knowing what the engine was used for was filled with a sense of accomplishment.
The next thing to do was to assemble a body for the engine, He was going to make a car .
Mason then took inspiration from the Ariel motor company. A British car company that produced simple but beautiful and minimalist cars .
He called back two of his engineers from Siberia, the refinery was just days from completion. Then they went to work making parts for the car, the gears , framework, transmission, brakes , e.t.c.
Even the guards helped out once in a while, they wanted to know what Mason was producing and within a month the test car was produced.
The car which was known as the auto one sat on the a flattened out road. Inside it was the inline 4 engine, a four speed manual transmission , a multi link suspension system . Its front and back wheels used disk breaks which had superior stopping power.
As for the interior, it was almost non existent save for the driver sit made out of a metal frame.
As for the battery, it was made out of an enchanted steel ball that was made to provide electrical power for the car .
For now the car was just a metall frame but once it was sure to be in working conditions, then Mason would go into action.
Mason entered the car that was devoid of seatbelts and air bags then he started the engine and felt a vibration run through his body as the car shuddered to life . He let the feeling flow through him for some time then he put the car in first gear and started driving.
He started slowly at first, checking the breaks and the steering. But when it was sure that everything was working, he stepped on the gas pedal and changing gears as he zoomed across the flat terrain.
The engineers and the guards watched as the car speed up sending dust across the area .
There was no way of checking speed but Mason was sure that the car was going a little below eighty miles as a top speed. It was fast but not quite as what he would have wanted so it was back to the work shop .
This test car has just been made all through by hand , but now he was making magic powered machines that could act as power tools . This would make the precision of his engineers to be more precise.
After communicating his thoughts to the engineers, they were happy to help. They had seen the wonders of engineering and wanted to learn more. Mason on the other hand needed more workers but to hire them, he would need money .
