Chapter 52 - Chapter 52: I Know the Way!

"Apple wood, salamander tail, ten inches!"

"Uh... seems this one won't work. How about this one? Ebony wood, fairy wing..."

One wand after another was placed in Evans's hand, then quickly withdrawn. After trying over ten wands, Evans finally couldn't help but speak up.

"Actually, any wand will do. I'm not picky about wands."

"Absolutely not!"

The girl who took the wand back from Evans shook her head firmly and explained:

"Every Ollivander wand chooses its owner the moment it's made. I can't give you a wand that doesn't belong to you."

She returned the wand to its box, preparing to fetch another. But after taking only two steps, she seemed to suddenly remember something and excitedly ran upstairs. After a long while, she returned carrying a large wooden box.

"Come on, try this one!"

"Oak wood, unicorn tail hair, twelve and a half inches!"

As she spoke, she opened the wooden box and displayed its contents before Evans, her eyes full of pride.

"This is my greatest work!"

Casually glancing at the wand in the box, Evans suddenly froze.

It was an extremely familiar wand—both its length and color gave him an incredibly familiar feeling.

Oak wood, unicorn hair, 12.5 inches.

Of course it was familiar. Before entering this illusory history, this very wand had been in his hand.

Slowly reaching out to stroke the wand in the box, Evans remembered what Mr. Garrick Ollivander had said when he'd obtained this wand in Diagon Alley.

'This is a wand left by an ancestor, her most perfect work. Unfortunately, she spent her entire life unable to find an owner for this wand.'

He had originally thought he might try out what it felt like to use other wands.

Shaking his head, Evans reached out and grasped the familiar handle.

Wands with unicorn tail hair cores would only recognize one master in their lifetime, and clearly, whether three hundred years ago or three hundred years later, its choice would never change.

In an instant, brilliant light shone from the wand tip, and a pale green ripple spread in all directions.

Della felt a fresh, spring-like scent reach her nose, making her squint involuntarily as tension melted from her shoulders.

But she quickly opened her eyes again, staring at the transformation around them in disbelief.

The shabby wooden tables and chairs seemed to come alive in an instant. Countless branches sprouted from them, quickly covered with vibrant green leaves, and some had even bloomed with delicate flowers.

Before long, the entire room was completely covered with leaves and blossoms. The fragrance unique to living plants spread throughout the space, creating a vibrant garden scene bathed in noon sunlight.

It seems the reaction after grasping the wand is also related to magical strength?

Looking at everything happening around him, Evans was somewhat surprised.

When he had obtained this wand at Ollivander's shop years ago, although it had also made the surrounding plants grow taller, it definitely hadn't had such an dramatic effect.

However, it seems I have quite good compatibility with plants?

If he hadn't chosen to study magical creatures back then, would he be an excellent botanist now? That way, when Sothia sent flowers, she wouldn't have to worry about whether he'd accidentally kill them.

But soon, Evans shook his head.

His talent only worked when befriending magical creatures, which destined him never to become a botanist. Besides, plants had no interaction—how could they compare to those companions with magical abilities who could provide emotional value?

No need to step on one to praise another.

Casually waving the wand in his hand to return the magical phenomenon to normal, Evans smiled slightly at the still-dazed girl before him.

"How do you want me to help you?"

Hearing Evans's words, Della finally snapped back to reality, her eyes lighting up.

She first put on gloves and ran to the side, somehow producing a somewhat worn teacup and carefully placing it on the table.

"Very simple! This afternoon the leader will hold a meeting in the city where the dungeon is located to discuss rescuing those companions. Due to security concerns, this Portkey can only transport us near the meeting location, but every member knows the exact location of the base."

As she spoke, she took off her gloves and confidently patted her flat chest.

"Don't worry, I know the way from there!"

Hearing the girl's words, Evans nodded slightly.

Using a Portkey to transport near the gathering base? A fairly rigorous approach. This way, enemies unfamiliar with the terrain couldn't find their meeting place even if they obtained the Portkey, while teammates familiar with the area wouldn't be troubled by this small inconvenience.

"No problem," Evans said.

"Then let's go! The timing is perfect!"

Della took a deep breath and counted down.

"Three, two, one!"

Both hands touched the worn teacup simultaneously. The next second, the surrounding scenery twisted strangely, and when the distortion ended, both had vanished.

However, sometimes plans never keep up with changes.

Obviously, the person who devised this procedure hadn't considered that some people possessed special talents others didn't have.

Half an hour later, looking at the girl beside him whose eyes showed mounting anxiety as she occasionally glanced at the sky and then at the ground, Evans could no longer suppress his urge to complain.

"Are you really familiar with the way?"

Ever since being transported by that Portkey, the girl before him had confidently started leading the way.

Then he witnessed what true directional incompetence looked like.

Along this journey, he had seen countless buildings with exotic charm. This was clearly no longer England—the Muggles here accompanied their chatter with vivid gestures, which looked quite interesting.

But interesting couldn't hide the reality that they were completely lost.

Even with the language barrier, they had once wandered into a Muggle community and nearly been discovered by a patrol of judgment knights. Fortunately, Evans reacted quickly and used Disapparition to escape with this directionally challenged girl, avoiding a battle.

"I... I remember it was this way. How could we get lost?"

Looking anxiously at the completely unfamiliar buildings around them, Della felt like she was about to cry.

The meeting should be starting by now. If she didn't arrive soon, she'd miss this operation entirely!

Just then, Evans suddenly turned around, looking toward a nearby alley.

A young man holding a wand was walking toward them. Upon seeing Della, surprise flickered across his face.

"Della?"

Then he spotted Evans behind her, and his expression instantly became serious.

"Who is he?"

"Big Brother Torin!"

Seeing a familiar face, Della's eyes clearly brightened. She excitedly waved at the young man and began introducing:

"This is Mr. Kevin. I asked him to help..."

Della's voice grew smaller and smaller. She seemed to notice the wariness in Torin's eyes.

"How could you randomly bring a stranger here?"

Pointing his wand at Evans, the youth called Torin was full of vigilance, watching the somewhat lazy man in a defensive posture.

"Come here quickly! Don't stay near him!"

"This person is dangerous!"

He had a premonition that this person was unconsciously radiating some invisible pressure around him. And that kind of pressure was definitely not something a wizard of his apparent age could possess!

"Oh?"

Not minding the wand pointed at him, Evans looked at the youth called Torin with interest.

Just from a few glances, he could sense danger? This wasn't something a normal wizard could do. No magic existed that could detect the danger level of other creatures—at least not in this world before he had researched the fairy's danger prediction abilities.

Only some special magical creatures had this ability.

Was this youth a magical creature hybrid?

After pondering for a moment, Evans's eyes briefly turned completely black, then quickly returned to normal, a strange light flashing in them.

The light of prophecy—centaur bloodline? Though very diluted, it definitely exists.

So centaurs and humans really had no reproductive barriers? He really wanted to draw a tube of blood for research. Unfortunately, none of his equipment had been brought along. He wondered if he could configure something on the spot.

Seemingly sensing that Evans was thinking about something unsettling, the young man called Torin became even more wary. He gripped his wand tighter, nervously watching the man standing there.

Della wanted to mediate but didn't know how to speak up. She could only stand anxiously to the side, praying these two wouldn't actually start fighting.

Just as Evans was pondering how to trick the young man into giving him a tube of blood, a steady voice suddenly sounded nearby.

"Torin, put down your wand."
