Chapter 27 - CHAPTER 26: THE DEVILSMAN DETECTIVE

A Visit to Mark

The soft hum of fluorescent lights filled the police department as Alexander Bluestone stepped inside. His black trench coat swayed slightly with his movements, his expression unreadable as he made his way toward Mark Alberton's office.

Mark looked up as Alex entered, his hands folded on his desk. A mixture of unease and understanding flickered in his eyes.

"So," Mark sighed, "you just happened to be on that train?"

Alex smirked, closing the door behind him. "A lucky coincidence."

Mark scoffed, leaning back. "You killed David Goathlin."

"He was already dead the moment he stepped on that train," Alex replied smoothly. "I just accelerated the process."

Mark rubbed his temples. "And the head driver?"

Alex leaned forward, resting his hands on the desk. His cyan eyes gleamed with amusement. "A necessary casualty."

Mark exhaled sharply. "Alex, you're making too many enemies. Your methods—"

"Work." Alex cut him off. "Grim's influence is spreading. The police? They're losing. You know it. That's why you haven't stopped me."

Mark clenched his jaw. He wanted to argue, to reprimand him—but deep down, he knew Alex was right.

After a moment, he sighed. "You're not wrong. But the way you do things… It terrifies people."

Alex chuckled, standing straight. "Good. Fear keeps people in line."

Mark stared at him for a long time. Then, shaking his head, he muttered, "You're a damn monster."

Alex smirked. "And yet, you keep calling me."

With that, he turned and walked out, his shadow stretching long behind him.

The Newspaper Headline

Elsewhere…

Rose sat alone in the detective office, a steaming cup of coffee in her trembling hands.

Her mind still replayed the events on the train. Alex's cold-blooded efficiency. His manipulation. His complete dominance over the situation.

She needed a distraction.

She reached for the morning newspaper, flipping through the pages—until her fingers froze.

Her heart skipped a beat.

Right on the front cover, bold letters screamed at her:

"MEET THE DEVIL OF JUSTICE – THE DEVILSMAN DETECTIVE: ALEXANDER BLUESTONE"

A chill ran down her spine.

Her breath quickened as she read through the article.

"A detective who operates beyond the limits of law and morality. A man who does not seek justice—he defines it. Ruthless, efficient, and terrifyingly intelligent, Alexander Bluestone is no hero. He is something far worse. He is a necessary evil."

Rose swallowed hard, her hands gripping the paper.

She already knew what he was capable of. She had seen it firsthand.

But now… the whole world knew.

And they had given him a name.

The Devilsman Detective.

She whispered it under her breath, feeling a deep sense of unease settle in her bones.

"What... have we unleashed?"
