Chapter 18 - chapter_18

He knocked lightly on the door and stepped inside.

Matthew was fixing his tie in front of the mirror.

He glanced at Jacob briefly.

+"Don't get too friendly with her. She's already acting like she owns the place. I don't want her snooping around when we still don't know where the hell she came from."

Matthew was on edge, and Jacob wasn't sure if that was good or bad. He couldn't figure out what it was about that blue-eyed girl that had Matthew's mind so wrapped up.

But Jacob kept those thoughts to himself. Instead, he said,

_ "Yes, sir."

He met Matthew's stare in the mirror.

+"Tell Enzo to wait by the car. I need to go over a few things with him. You don't need to come to the company. Stay here, check on things, and keep an eye on that girl. Take her to her place around five or six, and don't let it take more than an hour. She shouldn't bring too much stuff. It'll be checked later, but still…"

_ "Yes, sir."

Matthew tightened his watch around his wrist and stared at him again.

+"Great. You're already learning from her how to get on my nerves. Perfect!"

_ "I just agreed with you. I know your head's full right now, and besides, you're the boss!"

Matthew ignored the subtle smirk.

+"Do whatever you want, just keep that girl out of my sight."

Jacob nodded, contacted Enzo, and left the main mansion.

Matthew stuck a nicotine patch on his arm, fixed his sleeve, and put on his long coat. He checked himself in the mirror.

 looked good..as always

He went downstairs and saw Diana still eating, lost in thought.

Ignoring her, he headed to the elevator and pressed the button.

Enzo was waiting by the car.

/"Good morning, sir."

Matthew nodded.

+"Listen carefully. I don't want any mistakes from you…"
