Chapter 19 - chapter_19

Diana pov:

It was past noon, and no one was around where I was.

I was still wearing that white towel.

I walked to the room's window and opened it.

I hadn't seen the outside of the mansion yet. From what I could tell, my room was at the back, because all I could see were a few trees blocking the view.

The height looked like if I jumped, I'd break my legs on the spot.

A knock came at the door.

/ "Miss?"

It was a woman's voice. I stepped out from the small balcony, tightened the towel around myself, and went to the door.

I opened it. She looked about forty, dressed like one of the maids.

/ "These are for you. Please wear these clothes when you go out. We'll wash your things and return them as soon as possible."

I thanked her and asked hesitantly,

-"Has Mr. Jacob come back yet?"

/ "No, miss."

I gave a weak smile.

Why wasn't he here? Had they changed their minds?

I threw myself onto the bed and curled up like a fetus.

It hit me again—I was living in this huge mansion, not knowing anyone. I missed my mom, my few distant friends I talked to every couple of months, my laptop, my violin…

In my head, I pictured holding my violin, playing Mom and Dad's favorite melody—Moonlight Sonata.

Dad used to say he was practicing his notes in the park one day when Mom sat beside him quietly, watching him play, their eyes locked.

That's how they met at sunset, and… well, the rest is obvious.

I don't know how much time passed before they brought lunch. I started eating, trying to forget everything and focus on how I was going to ditch Jacob.
