Chapter 1 - Apocalypse

Apocalypse is something I've only ever seen in movies or read in books. I lived in a pretty ordinary world after all. There was nothing like zombies or whatever aliens invading earth.

But even if apocalypses doesn't exist, humans still die anyways. Whether it's due to diseases, wars or accidents.

And well, I just died getting hit by a truck; an accident... Worst of all, I have transmigrated.

Transmigration alone doesn't necessarily means anything bad but I have transmigrated into an apocalyptic world!

Fuck! I just died getting hit by a truck, I can still feel the pain before my death so vividly. Are you telling me to die again when I have just died!?

I have transmigrated into a virtual reality game called "Lunar Eclipse"... It's a game about surviving in a world filled with monsters.

And worst of all, as a "player" you had to play as a normal ordinary human! You could only survive through running away for the first entire episode of the game!

The game starts with humanity getting flooded with monsters from unknown origins. At the very start, humanity could only rely on weapons they already had.

Machine guns, rifiles and shotguns... Well, you could use anything that can kill a living creature. But these monsters had complete resistance to these weapons!

They can't be killed for the entire first episode of the game and you could only run away from them, the system will only start giving "Moonlight Energy" that can kill these creatures at the start of the second episode...

Ah, right. You don't get "Moonlight Energy" just for surviving. You had to learn it. And you could only do so after the first episode.

The system only tells you to run away at the first episode and the reward for surviving is [Moonlight Energy]. You had to survive the whole episode that takes about 7 in-game days...

The monsters had some sorts of foreign powers protecting them, as if they had some kind of protection shield provided by the system.

So they couldn't be killed unless you had "Moonlight Energy" or weapons imbued with such which you'll have to create yourself later on.

I transmigrated here in my own body.. it feels quite strange honestly. After all, this wasn't my world, how could my body be here, still?

I've already died so I don't think I'll go back to my world even if I die... but whatever, whatever.

I'll still try to survive regardless. The game developers said that you'd get to make a wish once you reach the end of the game.

If I can survive until the end then I might just be able to go back to my world!

But why would I want to do that anyways? I'm already dead... If I went back to my world then it'd be pretty awkward. I can't be explaining how I got transmigrated into a game and then came back to life, can I?

I'd rather be reborn in a magic fantasy world with many pretty girls... with a handsome face too, of course.

...

Right now, I was in the middle of the city. Thankfully, you don't just encounter monsters at the moment you start.

There's a system window right in front me... This is kind of interesting... Hmm, did I really get transmigrated into the game or did I get sent to another world?... I don't know...

Usually, don't you just get sent to another world and "reincarnate" in another body when you get hit by a truck?..

Sigh, I really shouldn't be thinking useless things like this now. I'm really going to die again just as I had transmigrated at this rate..

I wish I would've transmigrated into a game with a magic academy type of setting or something...

slap

...I slapped myself to stop thinking useless things and shouted unintentionally.

"Stop thinking of useless things, you stupid head!"

I said with a frustrated expression.

I was trying to calm myself and cope saying this was just a game, I wanted to believe it was fake, but it's not! I can clearly feel my skin, I can hear the sound of monsters clearly!

"Ah, wait, fuck."

I realized what I had just done after I heard my own voice that was loud enough to wake up the entire city...

I was currently in a house without any monsters but every other houses in the city has been already filled with monsters. It wasn't a good idea to shout when there were still monsters around.

I panicked, I didn't think I'd make such a stupid mistake and lose my life here! No, wait, I'm definitely not dying in the first episode, I'm a professional gamer! (Not really)

It seems like the monsters have already noticed me and came towards my house's direction!

Fuck! My impatient personality is finally coming to get at me... But I didn't have much time to hate myself for it because monsters have already invaded the house!

The monsters looked like humanoid kind of creatures, it's said that they're a reflection of every humans that were once alive in this city.

The original forms of these monsters are just blobs with terrifying teeths and a huge mouth. It was about 4 to 6 feet tall in height and 3 feet in width.

It takes the form of the creatures they eat, and in this case they looked like "humans", with 2 hands, 2 legs, 2 eyes, 1 nose and 2 ears.. the only thing different was their original skin colour and the terrifyingly huge mouths that can eat a human in one bite.

It's too bad that the game started at this point... No, it's too bad I transmigrated at this point of time. If I had time to prepare then I could've saved these "npcs" or humans.

Actually, scratch that. It's unlikely for me to even survive on my own... If I had to go around acting like a hero then I probably wouldn't even survive the first episode!

I had to ran away as fast as I could. Thankfully, these creatures were slower than most average humans. But it didn't mean that they wouldn't chase me...

They needed to devour other living creatures to grow in forms and the monsters in this city were all at their first original blob form or in a form of humans.

Dogs, cats and rats alike, all animals had gotten devoured but the monsters doesn't take the forms of smaller creatures. They only take parts of their nature and ablities.

Like the ability of a cat climbing walls, combine that with a human's body and they would pretty much be hard to escape from even if you're at the highest floor of some building.

If it was only one monster then sure but the monsters that are currently chasing me at least amounted to hundreds!
