Chapter 38 - "For Idiots Who Don't Know The World"

"Ah! I used mana? So I just had to think about it? Hmm... but this, besides the description... I don't understand. What is a lifestream? Circulate through the internal channel? Make it explode? Can I take mana from anything?"

Now Cassian was having the same experience as the rest. In his head, what appeared to be a book appeared, and on the first page was that, followed by many other pages that had a lot of information and details about things he didn't understand.

Everything was as clear as a real book. It was as if it were a book he had read many times throughout his life, forgotten due to amnesia, and now remembered again.

That was the feeling it gave: as if that information had always been there, and it was as clear as a physical book, that no matter how many pages he turned, if he went back, the information remained the same, unaltered, unaffected in the least by his current thoughts or misunderstanding.

Now she understood why the others were murmuring; it was a unique and interesting experience.

"Hmm... the others said they had Element, right? Is it because I have no affinity with anything? Hmm, well, I'll ask for advice later... Let's see... now there's..."

It was interesting but, as he did not understand it, he preferred to continue with the evaluations.

"Oh! A storage skill, that's a good thing. 'discere'. I don't have to bother Ria anymore. ...Then the other one is..."

Without any hesitation, reading the description and how convenient it was, Cassian learned the skill.

Having personal storage was indispensable now that he was going to another world. He was a little worried about what Valeriane said earlier, but now there would be no problem, and excitedly he went to the last book. He didn't expect much, since he already received a skill, but.....

"But what is this? What is this effect? Why is it so short? And what is that symbol? Is it an evaluation error? It's strange. Hmm... I have a strange feeling, but it doesn't seem bad."

Cassian, seeing what the last book was, was already impressed that he had gained another skill, but when he read the explanation, he really didn't understand anything.

The name was strange, the little that was understood about the categories was also strange, and the effect was even stranger.

This left him with serious doubts. He felt that there was nothing wrong with learning it, in fact, he felt a strange sensation, like an ambiguous but hesitant expectation that left him wondering what to do.

"Hey, Cazzy, why are you so lucky? You got two skills. With this one, it's the third one you've received. I want one like the one that stores things, or the one that searches for treasures! Hmm, this one is strange."

"Hmph, it's the third one... They'll come out anyway when I open my treasure chest, but that strange effect is curious. Hmm, it's like a cli... ahem, I mean, if you're done, learn it quickly so you can see my majesty."

"It doesn't seem any different from the others."

Once again, Cassian was too immersed in watching his own thing and didn't notice when Naelune climbed onto his shoulders. Celestine watched from one side, and curiously, Ellys watched from the other. They all gave their opinions on the situation.

"Hmm, what do you guys think? I don't know if I should learn it. Doesn't it seem weird? It just says 'All is Mine ' and the description basically says nothing."

"Well, as far as I know, I haven't heard of any skills that are bad... Hmm... wait, I feel like recently... ah?, well, never mind. Maybe it will help you get things, I've heard of some similar ones. You know, along with the others, I think you'll be a good thief."

"Ohh, it's funny because so far the rewards go hand in hand with the people. Like the fact that the fish woman got affinity with poison."

"Hey, what did you say, little dragon? Did you forget what you got?!"

"Tsk, things of the past. Soon you'll see the incomparable skills I'll get."

"You'll probably get all the remaining volumes of..."

Cassian didn't appreciate Naelune shouting near his ear, but more importantly, he didn't know what to do, so he ignored the two boisterous women and asked for a reasonable opinion.

"Hey, Lys, what do you think? Should I learn it?"

"Hmm, I don't know... I think you should make a decision, but if something bad happens, I... I!"

"Hey, don't even think about starting that weird ritual. Didn't we talk about that?"

"I won't... but if necessary..."

"Haaah~ really, don't do it. Well, it's just a skill. Whatever happens, happens."

Cassian decided that there was no point in overthinking it. The others seemed as hesitant as he was, and after all, it was a reward. So far, everything had worked out perfectly for everyone.

He could attest to that with the chest detector and storage, so he decided to learn it.

Of course, first, with a quick and unexpected movement, he moved behind Ria, who still seemed lost in thought, and kept a safe distance from Ellys, who was surprised by Cassian's sudden movement.

"Okay, now, let's see... 'discere'... I still don't know what it does."

He finally learned it, but once he did, he didn't feel anything different. As he understood it, the skills could be used immediately, but unlike the Arts, there was no explanation beyond what the skill said. And that, basically, explained nothing to him.

Hmm, maybe in the future I'll find another opportunity to evaluate myself, or I'll figure it out. I also want to know what the other one that was illegible does...

"Hahahaha! Well, you've finished opening your rewards, it's time for the important stuff! I'll show you what real rewards are!"

"Oh!"

Cassian's thoughts were interrupted by, Celestine, who stole all his attention. It was true, it was time for the last chest, the one Cassian assumed would be the best, so he immediately went behind her to see what came out.

"Hey, don't stick so close to my back again, it's uncomfortable. I can feel your breath on my horns."

"But this way I can see better! Oh, and remember, give me the Moderation of Words books. I now have a storage skill."

"And those trivial things won't come out... well, never mind. Watch and observe my rewards closely, which will all be skills and arts of the highest rank!"

Fwoosh!

"Oh, seven items, you surpassed Ria's count! I knew you were the top."

Celestine had seven items in her chest: three books, a necklace, wristbands like Cassian's, an emerald gem, and a vial.

"Hahaha, of course, obviously it's me. Let's see, let's start with this legendary skill that is..."

Moderation of Words V—

"Why!!?! Why do these damn things keep coming out, this isn't funny anymore?!"

"Hey, you didn't let me read what volume it was! Well, give it to me, you said you didn't want it, right? And the other two, I guess—"

"Shut up! There's no way the other two are, I'll show you..."

"For idiots who don't know the world" — Hunter's Manual Vol.1–

..

"Damn it! Another useless book! What is all this nonsense!!?"

Once again, a very angry Celes removed the splinter from the book, preventing it from being read in its entirety. It wasn't one of Moderation of Words, but just seeing part of the title made her furious, and she threw it on the floor in anger.

She was very red, and being her, it was not surprising that fire came out of her mouth. She seemed to want to attack something, until Cassian spoke.

"Hey, Celes, why did you remove it? It said something about dragons."

"Huh? Dragons, really!?"

"Yes, but you removed the splinter before I could read it completely. Look again, let's see..."

"...I hope you're not talking nonsense. Let's see."

The agitated Celes calmed down at Cassian's words and, hesitantly, picked up the book. She put a new splinter in it, showing him again what it said:

"Oh, interesting... oh! So this is what a real dragon looks like. Ahem, I mean, obviously I know what it looks like, I'm just surprised they portrayed it so well. There are also many types... the one who made this did a good job, although hunting them is somewhat ignorant. Hmph!. Why are you looking at me like that? Obviously I know about dragons, more than him, and this is basically unnecessary for me."

"I have not said anything. Well, it looks like an interesting book. If you don't want it..."

"No! Ahem, I mean, this, although I obviously know everything it says here... it has dangerous content... it seems that this Varnorr guy is a bit ignorant about the greatness of dragons. It's insulting that something teaches you how to kill them. I'll keep it. I'll destroy it later."

"Well, it's yours, you decide... well, let's move on, try the rest. It might be another volume of—"

"Hey, stop that! I think it's your fault, for saying that, that those books keep coming out. You bring me bad luck."

"Huh? You want to blame me? Hmm... although when I think about it, my luck with porridge isn't very good."

"See?! I knew you were influencing me, ugh! I already opened it... it'll be your fault if something else like that comes out."

"I was just saying, don't blame me. You opened it, it's your luck... But if more volumes come out, you'll give them to me, right?"

"You're really making me angry... ufff..., rather, you're overstepping yourself again. Hmph. Well, this lady is magnanimous and will ignore your meaningless and unlucky words. This last book will definitely be..."

"Hahaha!, finally! I knew it was a skill, just as I said, as it should be 'discere' Yes! I feel the power and-"

"Please stop. I feel like what you're about to say is unnecessary — why don't you just continue with the art?"

"Hmph!...you're lucky I'm in a good mood, and I'll let your lack of respect pass, Well, now let's see what art is up to my standards. This one, obviously, has to be..."

"Hey, wait, don't use the splinter. Remember you used two with the book. So far, they all have the same description, and if you use it, you won't be able to evaluate anything else."

"Ah! You're right, my subordinate. I like your quick thinking. Well, I just have to put in a little mana and... Hey! What the hell?! Why is the title 'Arts of the Ph-Phoenix Dance'? Why of all things... Damn it! I won't practice this!"

Celestine, whose mood had improved upon obtaining a skill, sulked again and complained angrily to no one in particular.

"..."

Cassian thought that Celestine's reactions were taking too long, in each evaluation, he just wanted to see the rest and now he didn't understand why Celestine was freaking out....
