Chapter 105 - Chapter 100: The Duke vs. Abel — O5's Most Desperate Day

SCP-083's abilities were akin to those of a vampire from fantasy lore.

But according to his own words, he was the ancestor of all vampires.

Different blood sources produced vastly different effects upon him.

Originally, his time in Foundation custody wasn't too difficult—until one particular experiment. He drank the blood of a woman who had been a victim of rape, and prior to that, she had been a virgin.

That was when Duke lost control.

> [Document 25-083-076: While in Containment Area 25, subject immediately entered a rage state based on the blood sample used in Test 083-C, exhibiting unprecedented aggression.]

> [The subject successfully breached containment. Coincidentally, SCP-076-2 also showed signs of activity.]

> [Security personnel could not simultaneously respond to both SCP-083 and SCP-076-2, resulting in dual containment failures. This led upper management to dispatch emergency reinforcements.]

SCP-076-2.

As that familiar designation reappeared on screen, the live chat exploded with recognition.

Wasn't this the same SCP-076-2… Abel?

S.H.I.E.L.D.

"Abel?" Natasha Romanoff narrowed her eyes. "You mean the one who nearly one-shotted SCP-682?"

She remembered clearly—Abel had destroyed the "Flower of the Universe" and restarted the timeline by sheer force alone.

The agents at S.H.I.E.L.D. all tensed up with excitement.

Abel was among the top-tier Keter-class humanoid anomalies.

Could the Duke possibly match him?

> [During the chaos, [DATA EXPUNGED], allowed SCP-083 to locate a viable food source. Dr. [DATA EXPUNGED] was promptly killed and drained.]

> [Security footage recovered 12 hours later showed SCP-083 regaining higher-level cognition and initiating detonation of site warheads, while SCP-076-2 attempted continued escape.]

> [At that point, all non-combat staff and most transportable SCPs had already been evacuated from Containment Area 25.]

> [SCP-083 breached the former (now decommissioned) chamber of SCP-[DATA EXPUNGED] and successfully repurposed it as a weapon.]

> [Though reckless, this action allowed him to [DATA EXPUNGED], holding off SCP-076-2 long enough for personnel to evacuate before the warheads were detonated.]

---

The live broadcast went silent.

All the viewers stared at the screen, unsure how to process what they'd just witnessed.

> "WTF? He went berserk just from drinking the wrong blood?"

> "He caused a breach… and then teamed up with 076-2?"

> "I get now why he's a termination target. The guy's a walking catastrophe."

---

S.H.I.E.L.D.

The agents exchanged stunned glances.

The Duke had acted so erratically that no one could wrap their heads around it.

"He's obviously manageable when calm," Nick Fury said grimly. "But the moment he loses control, he's basically a living nuke."

"There's no doubt—this guy's termination is mandatory."

---

Now, at least, everyone understood who SCP-083 was—and why he had to be terminated.

But a new question emerged:

Why was Dr. Kondraki in charge of the termination?

Not Dr. Clef, the specialist usually responsible for executing Keter-class anomalies?

"I remember that not long ago, the Foundation launched an internal review about the feasibility of studying SCP-083." Leon Lake (formerly Lin Lang) spoke up, voice laced with curiosity.

"That's right," Kondraki replied, shrugging. "The final verdict was termination."

Puffing out his chest, Kondraki began reenacting the moment the O5 Council made their choice.

> "The termination agent shall be selected from the senior personnel pool. Ideal candidates will have a proven record in eliminating humanoid anomalies with precision and decisiveness."

He slammed a hand against his chest. "Yes, that's me!"

Leon arched an eyebrow. "Honestly, I thought they were describing Dr. Clef."

"Don't mention that bastard!" Kondraki snapped, looking like he'd just been stabbed. "Just wait. I'm about to put on a masterclass in termination!"

Leon gave a polite nod. "Looking forward to it."

---

The viewers, however, were filled with dread.

Dr. Clef was known for being crude, loud, and maybe a compulsive liar—but when it came to Keter-class terminations, he never failed.

Kondraki?

He never failed to disappoint.

---

Their fears were quickly confirmed.

The screen cut to Leon standing in a large hall draped in banners.

> "Disciplinary Hearing: Dr. Benjamin Kondraki's Unauthorized Actions During SCP-083 Termination—Containment Breach at Site-19"

Leon: "…"

Live chat: "…"

> "WTF? It jumped straight to his public shaming?"

> "Dr. Kondraki's in trouble! AGAIN!"

> "This is his 'textbook execution'? I'm crying!"

> "We're living in the Bengbu moment."

---

S.H.I.E.L.D.

Laughter and disbelief filled the room.

Kondraki had overpromised and underdelivered, again.
