Chapter 3 - Raindrops & Real Talks

Saturday | 4:15 PM

Outside, it had started to drizzle. Inside, hearts were beginning to feel something they couldn't name yet.

Raj sat by the window, eyes drifting over the raindrops crawling down the glass. His phone buzzed.

Anamika:

"Hey... I'm kinda bored. You free to talk?"

He smiled.

Raj:

"Always. Rain + you = good vibe."

A second later, she called.

"Hey..." her voice was soft, like a quiet melody over thunder.

"You sound sleepy," Raj teased.

"Ugh. Just tired. This rain makes me lazy," Anamika mumbled.

Raj chuckled. "You sure it's the rain? Not the late-night dramas you watch secretly?"

She gasped. "How do you always know?!"

"I'm gifted," he replied, smug. "Also, your Insta story at 3 AM kinda gave it away."

They both laughed. The kind of laugh that makes you feel lighter.

Then, silence. But a comfortable one.

"Raj?" she asked after a moment.

"Hmm?"

"Do you believe in... soul connections?"

Raj leaned back, caught off guard by the sudden depth in her voice.

"Honestly... I didn't. Until that day. That note," he said softly.

"I still don't know how it got there. But I'm glad it did."

Anamika smiled quietly on the other side.

"I was scared that day, you know?" she admitted.

"If you hadn't come… I don't know what would've happened."

"You don't have to thank me," Raj said.

"I'd do it again. Every single time."

Her voice dropped to a whisper. "Why?"

"Because when I saw you... something felt familiar. Like I was meant to be there. Like we were… connected."

The rain outside grew heavier. But inside their hearts, something softened.

"You always say things that mess with my heart, you know?" she whispered, half-smiling.

"Well… it's only fair. You mess with mine too."

Anamika blushed, thankful he couldn't see her.

"Say something cheesy again and I'll hang up," she warned.

Raj grinned. "Cool. Then let me end with this—"

"You might be rain to others, but to me… you're sunshine in disguise."

"RAJ!"

He laughed out loud. "Okay, okay! I'll stop. Promise."

"Idiot," she mumbled, but she was smiling.

That day, they didn't confess.

They didn't call it love.

But something grew stronger between them—a quiet bond neither of them wanted to let go of.

And outside, the rain kept falling… like a blessing.
