Adam's soul was troubled by the thought of a future where there would be ten thousand hunters. He had not given much thought to the horrifying scope of the war he was fighting because he had been so concerned with surviving the here and now.
He buried the thought deep and pushed it away. The future could not afford to overwhelm him. He needed to live in the present. He had one last query. A question that had been bothering him ever since he first woke up in his teacher's office following his first death.
He looked at Assassin Five his gaze intense. "Do you know why they're after me?"
The question seemed to suck the air out of the room. The casual professionalism on Assassin Five's face vanished replaced by a sudden pallor. He looked down at the floor avoiding Adam's eyes.
