Chapter thirty nine

I ran the brush over my teeth because there were only a few minutes left for school and I just had to wake up late today.
From my reflection in the mirror, the dark circles under my eyes glared at me, a solid reminder of the last two sleepless nights.
After that message from Kieran and wondering how the hell he'd gotten my number, I'd spent the weekend either moping at my phone for another text that didn't arrive or sulk over my whole miserable existence.
I dragged in a long deep breath to ease the nervousness squeezing inside of me. He hadn't been in school for the past week, perhaps he wouldn't show up this week either? Or maybe until the end of the semester when I graduate and leave this town for good?
Could I be hopeful?
