Chapter forty six

The bell for gym class had already rung when I spotted Heath by his locker, he was typing on his phone, his lips pressed in concentration that looked like he was in no hurry to get to class.
I tried to walk past quickly, but he looked up in that instance.
"Hey shorty legs! Wait up."
I stopped, my stomach still churning from what I'd witnessed on the rooftop. Heath jogged over to me with a smile that made my chest tighten with guilt.
"I wanted to thank you," he said, his voice filled with gratitude that left me confused, he must have seen the question in my eyes, so he spoke again.
"For being yourself. For showing me that it's okay to be who you really are." His eyes were bright with warmth as he regarded me like I was a savior or something. "Seeing you and Kieran together, it gave me the courage to finally stop pretending."
My face instantly went red and hot "We're not together! There's nothing between us, it was just…"
