Chapter 1 - CHAPTER ONE

THIRD PERSON P.O.V

Leon turned the other way on his bed as the morning ray from the sun hit his face, his assistant Jade opened his window as she said "Alpha, it's time to wake up early and prepare for the regional alpha meeting."

The regional alpha meeting was a meeting that took place once every ten years between the different alphas of the many packs in a country come together to form alliances and discuss many important matters for the safety of all the werewolves under them.

Leon groaned and pulled his bedsheet over his head "Just five more minutes…",but Jade wouldn't let him "Alpha you need to hurry, I've already gotten the cars ready"

Leon groaned again and finally got out of bed saying "Alright...alright, but Jade how many times have I told you not to call me Alpha I thought we were friends."

Jade shrugged and said "We are, but you listen to me more when I call you alpha."

Leon sluggishly went into the bathroom to freshen up. After thirty minutes, he came out of the bathroom wrapped in nothing but a towel wrapped around his waist showcasing his well defined muscles and slightly tan skin. He went to his walk-in closet and picked out his clothes, he wore a black fitting turtle neck sweater that showcased his body proportions and wore it with a pair of white trousers, he was too lazy to style his hair properly so he just pulled his hair back in a ponytail. After that he checked himself in the mirror to make sure he hadn't missed any thing appearance wise and headed down stairs of the pack house.

As he went downstairs, he saw jade in the living room, sitting on one of the chairs preparing the files for the regional alpha meeting. Jade was tense as this was her first time going to the regional alpha meeting, so she wanted to make sure everything was perfect.

Leon went to the kitchen were the delicious scent of breakfast was coming from, he saw his sister frying pancakes and he went over to steal one or two, but before he could even touch them his sister smacked his hands away and said sarcastically "What a great way to greet your sister in the morning."

His sister's name was Emily, much like Leon she took after both their parents she was tall, had long curly raven black hair, sharp blue eyes, a pointed nose and plump lips, unlike Leon she had a rounder jawline and softer features with a more open personality. Their father had black hair with brown eyes, a pointed nose and she was almost as tall as their father, meanwhile their mother was average height, had raven black hair, plump lips, soft features and curvy.

Leon went over to her and hugged her, she hugged him back and when she was not looking he quickly took a pancake and put it in his mouth. When she realized what he did she hit him hard in his shoulder, Leon pretended to be hurt and winced before stylishly retreating (running away) from the kitchen.

Emily called "Leon…" Leon turned around and saw her look at him with pride as she said "you will do great today at the meeting, I just know it, mama and papa would be so proud of you."

Leon felt the warmth behind his sisters words and her unfailing support that always manages to soften the tension in his stomach anytime he feels uneasy, even though he is an alpha he has his weak moments and somehow his sister always manages to sense the negative emotions he tries to hide.

Leon ruffles her hair as he said "thanks, Emily."

As Leon was walking out of the kitchen, he hears Jades voice coming from the living room, having a tone of both urgency and excitement. "alpha! Hurry up! We need to go soon!"

Leon mentally rolled his eyes at the mention of the title and couldn't help but chuckle. Jade had always liked to keep him on his toes, and even though she kept on calling him Alpha, he knew she meant it as a way to express her respect and friendship, especially for today where everything felt so important and emotional.

He took in a moment to gather his thoughts as he was leaning against the door frame of the kitchen. The pack house was busy with the sound of breakfast preparations and the chatter of the pack members, mostly about the regional alpha meeting. It was comforting to listen to, though it reminded him of the importance of the meeting that lays ahead. The regional alpha meeting was not just a formality; it was a chance to forge alliances, to strengthen their pack's position among other packs, and to ensure the safety of their kind.

After the moment of reflection, he made his way into the living room, he saw Jade meticulously arranging the files for the meeting. She had her brow furrowed in concentration as she looked up and said "Alpha, I've organized the files we need according to priority" gesturing to the neatly stacked folders on the coffee table. "At the meeting we need to address the disputes around the border first, then move on towards the new regulation concerning territory expansion for pack members"

Leon nodded, amazed by his friend's thoroughness. "You've really outdone yourself, Jade. I don't know what I'd do without you."

Jade smiled, showing just a hint of pride in her expression "Just doing my job 'Alpha'."

"Stop that" he said shaking his head with a laugh."How many times have I told you not to call me Alpha"

Jade laughed, eyes sparkling with mischief "You know I won't stop calling you alpha, it's funny seeing your reactions, and besides, it makes ma act seriously when it's needed."

Leon chuckled again, the banter between them lightening his mood. He appreciated jade and her ability to lighten the mood, even when the stakes where high. He took a glance at his wrist watch and felt a sudden surge of urgency. "Alright, let's go, we're getting late."

As he grabbed the files jade had prepared, he felt the weight of responsibility settle on his shoulders.

As he went towards the door about to leave, Emily went forward to meet him, her expression being a mix of both pride and concern saying," You should remember that you are the alpha of this pack and that whatever you choose you have our support, so stay strong. Who knows you may even find your mate."She said the last part playfully.

Leon seeing her act like that relieved some of the stress and tension he had as he replied "Sure, I will." He gave her a small smile before stepping outside. The morning air outside was crisp and invigorating as he took a deep breath, letting it flow out of his lungs. It looked like it would be a beautiful day today, and he hoped the regional alpha meeting went just as good.

As he approached the waiting cars, he spotted the sleek black SUV that would take him to the meeting. The driver, a burly man named Marcus, nodded in acknowledgment. "Ready when you are, Alpha," he said, his voice deep and steady.

Leon climbed into the backseat, placing the files on his lap as he started to review them one by one. Occasionally he would glance outside the window watching the familiar landscape pass by. This was the first time he ever went for the regional alpha meeting, the regional alpha meeting as the alpha of the Thorn shade pack.

"nervous much?" Jade asked from the front seat, her tone casual but her eyes flicking to him in the rear view mirror.

"A little," he muttered, knowing she heard him, running a hand through his hair. "It's a big deal, you know? I want to make sure I represent our pack well, just as much as my father did."

"You will," she assured him, her confidence in her friend unwavering. "You've trained for this your whole life. Just remember to listen as much as you speak. The other alphas will respect you for it."

The car turned onto a winding road that led to the meeting venue, a grand hall that had been chosen for its neutral ground. It was a place where alphas from different packs could gather without the weight of territorial disputes hanging over them. The hall loomed ahead, its stone façade imposing yet inviting, surrounded by lush gardens that had been meticulously maintained.

As he opened the car door, Jade followed closely behind while holding her files tightly. They walked toward the entrance, and as they approached, Leon could see other alphas arriving, their presence a mix of confidence and authority.

As they stepped inside, they noticed the shift in atmosphere compared to the outside. Conversations buzzed around them, a blend of laughter and serious discussions.
