Chapter fifty one
The air was thick with smoke and the sharp smell of alcohol. In one corner, a couple was making out so intensely that I had to look away.
Another group was passing around something that definitely wasn't a regular cigarette.
My hands started shaking. "William, we need to leave."
"What? Why?" He had to shout over the pounding music. He looked very comfortable while my soul was already leaving me.
In my head I was expecting a kids' party, I mean with the costumes and all, but this was way more than I bargained for.
"Look around! This isn't a normal party. If my mom finds out.."
"Relax, no one's going to tell her."
I gave him an apprehensive look, easy for him to say when he wasn't the one who's going to be grounded.
"Isn't this kind of illegal? What if we get arrested or something?"
