Clint's eyes glanced toward the door just as it slammed shut, the loud sound still echoing in the room.
His grip tightened on the sword in his hand, and when he turned back to the Duke, something caught his eye.
Behind the Duke, just for a second, a tail swayed into view — long, silver, covered in fine scales that shimmered slightly with red patterns.
A powerful wave of air pulsed from it, as if the movement itself had shut the doors with sheer force. Then it disappeared.
Clint took a step forward, his chest rising and falling fast as he raised the sword slightly higher, his eyes burning with frustration and disbelief. "Why?" Clint said through clenched teeth, his voice trembling.
"Why did you kill them?!"
The Duke tilted his head slightly, A droplet of water slid down his jaw as he took a single step closer, still only wearing the towel around his waist, completely unfazed by the sword pointed at him.
