Clint's glare stayed fixed on the duke for a moment then he remembered the words he had spat out earlier "I'll never forgive you."
That thought making him suddenly feel a heavy, uncomfortable urge to take it back. Maybe he had misunderstood him after all.
"H-Hey," Clint called out, his voice slightly hesitant.
but then he noticed the man's gaze wasn't on his face. The duke's eyes had lifted slightly, staring his bunny ears before shifting back to the his eyes.
The duke tilted his head slightly. "Hmm?"
Clint immediately looked away, his cheeks warming. "I-I apologize," he mumbled under his breath, the words barely escaping his lips.
The duke leaned closer, his shadow stretching over Clint, his voice low but almost teasing. "What? I didn't hear you."
Clint's eyes snapped back to him in a glare. "Are you acting deaf?!"
The duke only gave a casual shrug. "Nope, I really didn't hear you."
