Chapter 246 - The Threaders Arc: Seven

Sous and Faye collasped onto the beach of the Island of Dimona, laying next to rubble and debris from the battle they knew nothing of.

A bare footed woman walked to Faye and knelt down, lifting up the priestess' head. Faye opened her eyes to see Makala before her. She quickly got up and hugged the woman. "What are you doing here?"

Makala smiled softly at her lover. "I was brought here by Alana. I had no idea all of this wad happening. I thought you were just playing with Sous."

"PLAYING!" Sous yelled out, sand dripping from her mouth. The two of them were soon helped into the palace some distance away with Faye being able to connect with her infant daughter after she had just been breast fed.

Sous sat in a rocking chair in the nursey with Kara by her side. Alana soon entered.

"Well, both your mates are now here so their shouldn't be worry regards to being without them." Alana turned to Sous and Kara, nodding her head as she did so. "Come with me."

The nursery door shut behind them, leaving the infant sleeping soundly with her parents. Alana led Sous and Kara through corridors carved with marble rock, their footsteps echoing softly on the floors.

Kara reached out, fingertips brushing cool stone. Sous kept pace with Alana, her gaze fixed ahead, shoulders squared and focused.

They came to a room with the three of them entering, one after another. Maps unfurled across a long table. At the table was her husband, second in command Prince, followed by her son and daughter with high rankings as well and then the four commanders of the army, navy, and air battalion, plus the coastal guard.

Alana stood at the center of the table and suggested for Sous and Kara to sit.

"Where's Tany?" Sous asked.

Alana shrugged. "Only you and Faye came upon shore."

Kara's hand settled over hers, a silent anchor in the sudden, suffocating silence. The war room felt cavernous now, the maps blurring into meaningless patterns.

Alana watched her, expression unreadable, while the assembled commanders shifted waiting for the meeting to start. To Sous, it would seem Tany had disappeared. Probably back to her covenant.

"As we know, we are now at war with Apex of Canas. The goal is to conquer their land and split it back up to the respectable species it used to belong to before they were all sent to ghettos," Alana turned to Sous. "Do you know of the four packs?"

Sous leaned forward in her seat, shaking her head.

"Four packs: Apex, Damon, Tarlemaeu, Hana," Alana said to them all but especially to Sous. "Apex is of course the of them all, with allies amongst some humans and witches who are given equal or secondary status to the wolves. Here's the plan-"

It was like Sous' antennas could see everything that Alana was telling her. She saw a darken map of Canas and when the ghettos were mentioned, she began to see yellow spots appearing within various districts and locations.

Then the four packs; the map was split into four sections. All with their own area but with Apex as the true leader of them all.

A phantom scent invaded her nostrils, burnt as Alana gestured toward the northeastern ghetto zones marked in sulfur-yellow ink.

Kara's hand tightened over hers, a grounding pressure against the rising tide of static electricity crawling along Sous' skin. Her blue particles swirling around her.

Sous' gaze traced the jagged borders of Canas, her mind superimposing the crumbling tenements and chain-link fences.

"Sous, I'd like you to start with freeing some of the ghettos. With that distraction, we'll be able to come from below," Alana said, Sous nodded her head listening intently.

That night after the meeting and after dinner, Kara sat upon Sous' lap. The two of them kissing passionately.

Kara's fingers traced the line of Sous' jaw, rough with stubble fur, before tangling in the silver strands cascading down her back. Sous responded by pulling Kara closer, her hands sliding beneath the thin silk of Kara's nightgown, finding the warm skin beneath.

Kara shifted, straddling Sous fully now, her own hands roaming Sous' broad shoulders, down the powerful muscles of her back, fingers pressing possessively into the flesh.

She gasped softly as Sous' mouth trailed hot, urgent kisses down her throat, teeth grazing the sensitive skin where pulse hammered against the surface.

Sous inhaled deeply, Kara's familiar scent mingling with the lingering aroma of their shared meal and the faint tang of ozone from her own barely contained power.

Sous helped Kara take off her night gown. Her mouth traveling to the soft bosom already in her grip.

Kara arched into her, breath as Sous' teeth scraped lightly over a hardened core, the sensation traveling straight to her core. The room faded: maps, war, loss all dissolving into the heat radiating between them.

Sous always felt so good inside of Kara. Feeling such power in between her legs always made her feel so sensational. This time, Sous was soft and gentle, taking her time to make Kara feel good.

The Alpha had finished first then Kara after. They laid side by side, smiling and laughing at one another like they were school girls hiding to be alone.

"We should have mentioned Pamoen at the meeting," Kara whispered.

"Yeah...she's gonna be the first one I try and find," Sous said back to her mate.

Kara curled instinctively against Sous' side, her head finding the familiar hollow beneath Sous' collarbone. Sous wrapped an arm around her, fingers sifting absently through Kara's dark orange hair, the strands cool and soft.

Kara's heartbeat thudded steadily against Sous' ribs, a slow, grounding counterpoint to the restless sound of Sous' own power simmering just beneath the surface, blue particles flickering faintly in the dimness.

The moon rose and halted, looking down on the island and all its inhabitants. And within hours, the moon was gone and out was the sun.
