Chapter 42 - planning

Night fell over this darker Gotham.

Thomas Wayne put on his Batman cowl, preparing for patrol.

"Stay here and rest," he told Bruce. "This city is dangerous."

But Bruce had other plans.

As soon as Thomas left, he transformed into Shazam.

Lightning crackled around him as he followed his father into the night.

Rooftop Battle

Thomas Batman landed on a forty-story building where chaos was unfolding.

Three women in purple and green outfits swung from building to building on rope slings.

Joker's minions.

"Batman!" one of them screamed. "Come play with us!"

Her slingshot fired explosive pellets at him.

Thomas dove behind an air conditioning unit as the roof exploded.

The second woman swung directly at him.

Her rope wrapped around his cape, pulling him toward the edge.

Thomas grabbed her ankle mid-swing.

"Going somewhere?" he growled.

He spun her around, using her momentum against her.

She crashed into the third attacker.

Both women tumbled across the rooftop.

But these weren't ordinary criminals.

The first woman's slingshot fired again.

This time, acid pellets that sizzled through concrete.

Thomas rolled sideways, his armored boots scraping against gravel.

"You're slower tonight, Batsy!" she taunted.

Her rope sling caught his wrist, yanking him off balance.

Thomas used the pull to his advantage.

He swung toward her like a pendulum.

His boot connected with her chest.

The impact sent her flying twenty feet.

She hit the rooftop hard, ribs cracking.

"Stay down," Thomas commanded.

The second woman flanked him from behind.

Her slingshot pellet exploded near his head.

Shrapnel cut across his cowl.

Thomas spun around, cape whirling.

His fist caught her jaw in a devastating uppercut.

She lifted off the ground, unconscious before she hit it.

The third woman tried to escape.

Her rope sling carried her toward the next building.

Thomas threw a batarang with perfect precision.

It cut her rope mid-swing.

She screamed as gravity took hold.

Forty stories down to the street below.

But she never hit the ground.

A boom tube opened beneath her.

She fell through the portal and landed safely on a nearby rooftop.

Victor Stone—this timeline's Cyborg—materialized from the shadows.

"Nice catch," Thomas said approvingly.

"These minions might have information," Victor replied.

Bruce watched from his hidden position.

His father was ruthless but controlled.

Efficient but not murderous.

"Dad's a badass in this parallel Earth," he whispered to himself.

His respect for Thomas Batman grew with every move.

Victor's cybernetic eye detected Bruce's energy signature.

"We have another presence," he announced. "Energy readings suggest superhuman abilities."

Thomas looked around. "Show yourself."

Bruce stepped out of the shadows, Shazam lightning flickering.

"It's just me, Dad."

Victor's scanners analyzed him. "New rookie?"

Thomas nodded. "This is Bruce. From... another situation."

Victor accepted the vague explanation.

Bruce looked at Cyborg with excitement. "Victor! Where's Clark?"

Victor's systems searched his databases. "Who?"

"Superman? Clark Kent?" Bruce pressed. "He can fly, has super strength, comes from outer space?"

Victor's cybernetic eye glowed. "No matches found."

"He's an alien from outer space," Bruce explained. "Landed in a rocket in Smallville."

"Ring any bells? Or what about Manhunter? Green skin, telepathic, also alien but really nice?"

Victor shook his head. "No records of any aliens matching those descriptions."

Thomas stepped forward. "It's possible the government captured them."

"Cyborg, I've told you—the government hides things from everyone."

Victor opened communication channels.

Holographic figures appeared around the rooftop.

Various heroes from this timeline's team.

Shazam (a different one), several younger heroes Bruce didn't recognize.

"Team meeting," Victor announced. "We have dimensional visitors."

"And potential government cover-ups to investigate."

During the discussion, Victor's systems detected something.

"Scanning... scanning... acquired coordinates."

"Secret government base. Heavily shielded. Definitely hiding something."

Thomas looked at the data. "We investigate tomorrow night."

The holograms flickered off as the meeting ended.

Back at Wayne Manor

Ojaga's eyes opened slowly.

Medical equipment surrounded his bed.

IVs dripped nutrients into his system.

His Saiyan healing factor was working, but he was still weak.

"Bruce?" he called out. "Where am I?"

Two identical figures in red costumes approached his bed.

"Hey there," Barry 2 said gently. "You're in an alternate dimension."

"I used the Speed Force to travel back in time, but ended up here instead."

Barry 1 nodded. "And I come from the original universe. Time reversal brought me here too."

Ojaga's enhanced mind processed this information.

"This may be the Flash's Zoom Point timeline," he muttered. "Maybe..."

Two shadows entered his peripheral vision.

His brother Bruce, still glowing with Shazam energy.

And a tall figure in a Batman costume.

"Bruce! Come here," Ojaga said, sitting up. "Let me check you. Are you injured?"

He started pulling out IVs and medical equipment.

"Brother, I'm fine," Bruce said, rushing to his side. "You're the one who was hurt."

"Brother," Bruce continued, "what should we do now? This is an alternative universe."

"What about our parents? Our timeline?"

Thomas Wayne stepped forward, removing his Batman cowl.

His older face studied Ojaga carefully.

DNA scanners in his equipment showed no genetic match.

But the facial similarities were undeniable.

"So you're dad from this universe," Ojaga said, standing slowly.

His ki began to return, golden energy flickering around him.

"And in this universe, Bruce died 10 years ago "

Thomas nodded. "That's correct."

Ojaga looked at this timeline's Thomas Wayne with respect.

A father who became Batman after losing his son.

Still protecting people despite his own pain.

Ojaga's Mental Planning

First priority, Ojaga thought, need to stop that atom bomb in Atlantis.

Find the Mother Box from this timeline.

Locate Dr. Fate—he might know how to travel between dimensions.

Find a way to return to our timeline.

And save our real parents.

He looked around at the assembled heroes.

Two Barrys from different realities.

His brother Bruce with divine powers.

Thomas Wayne as Batman.

Victor Stone as Cyborg.

"Alright," Ojaga said, stretching as his strength returned.

"Let's figure out how to get home."

"But first, we help this Earth with its problems."

Thomas Wayne smiled—the first genuine smile Bruce had seen from him.

"You really are my son. Different timeline or not."

"Both of you have the same heart."
