Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

Kyle' POV.

"You're so great! I love you!" Hannah jumped at me with delight, her eyes glistening at the tickets to Paris I just gifted her.

"I love you too, babe" I hugged her back and dropped a kiss on her hair.

It was our second anniversary and this time I wanted to surprise her with something big. Last year due to the stock market crisis, I couldn't really celebrate our anniversary. Thankfully things were finally looking up.

If ten years ago someone would have told me that not only would I be a CEO of the GG Industries, but also married to such a wonderful wife I would have laughed. People like me were raised to live without dreams, to obey, to serve and to accept whatever fate had to order for us. But I made a different call.

Being an omega, I knew from the start that in the werewolf community I was doomed. Once I was old enough I would be claimed by some ruthless alpha and will be bound in servitude forever.

Luckily I found the concoction that enables omegas to hide their scents.Even better i could replicate since it''s illegal, and rare to find. As long as I don't run into my fated mate, I will be fine in this life.

The world has eight billion people, so my chances were slim. These days finding your "one true mate" is even less common. Even if I do, all I have to do is make them reject me, which I believe I will be able to do. Thanks to my position of power, I wasn't a helpless little guy anymore.

"Kyle! Kyle?" My wife's voice brought me back to reality. "What are you thinking about?" She asked, concerned.

"Thinking about the past." I smiled. "And how lucky I am to have found you."

She rolled her eyes at me, "Well, remember that the next time we have a fight." I laughed lightly. "Which reminds me, my mother called. She wanted to know if we would be hosting Thanksgiving this year."

My eyes widened, "That's like in three days!" Her lips pursed but she didn't say anything, "I thought we were going to her place."

"Yes, but they ended up burning the kitchen and well they can't anymore." Hannah sighed. "Honestly I was pissed, but they are family." She shrugged. "Besides I was looking forward to meeting my step brother. I saw Charlie at the wedding, but his son cancelled the last minute." She shrugged.

"Well, if it's that important to you. I'll make it work". I smiled and kissed her on the lips. I knew she was close with her family, and I knew how excited she was that her mother finally found someone after her dad's death. She always worried what would happen to her, and lonely she would be until last fall.

I am yet to meet this Charlie, as I couldn't attend the wedding due to a work emergency. So maybe it would be nice to get to know the extended family as well.

**********************

"Wow, this smells so delicious" Hannah closed her eyes, breathing in the aroma of the spices emanating from the kitchen. Of course she was in the other room, but thanks to my sharper than human hearing I could hear her. "Babe, when I said host Thanksgiving I didn't mean for you to cook". She said as she came to the kitchen.

"It's alright." I shrugged. "Cooking is my speciality, and they are family so why not".

"You're amazing." She smiled, and gave me a peck. "So, do you need any help? Chopping, basting, tasting?" She smirked.

"I got this". I brushed her off playfully, "But can you set the table for me?" I asked. "I don't think I'll have enough time."

"Sure". She shrugged.

After almost 2 hours I heard the front door ring. I stayed in the kitchen, giving my Savory dishes some finishing touch when I heard my wife open the door. I listened as she invited them in.

"Hey Charlie, Good to see you again." Hannah said.

"What about me?" Mrs Baker, Hannah's mom pressed.

"It's okay." She teased her mother. Their playful dynamic reminded me of the abusive dynamic I had back at home and how a healthy parent-child relationship looks like. I am so glad I am out of there forever.

Bringing out the food, I arranged the dishes and began serving when I noticed one empty chair. "Is someone missing?" I ended up blurting.

"Oh yes, my son." Charlie informed me. " He will be a bit late, I hope that's okay." I nodded. "Adrian has some 'business' he needs to take care of" he pushed on the word business. I didn't think much of it and let them eat.

"Oh my god, this is so delicious." Charles was more than amused while Mrs Baker looked at me like a proud mother in law. Hannah looked at me beaming with pride. For a brief moment I felt nothing but pure bliss. "You're a great cook, son," he added.

"Well, no wonder he has over 10 restaurants in this city," Mrs Baker added. "You have really made a huge name in the cooking business."

"Well, I am very thankful for everything." Taking note of the Thanksgiving holiday I added.

I decided to finally dig in and I was about to dig in when a strong scent hit my nose, almost burning through my nares. It wasn't unpleasant, if anything the if was more enticing than the meal I had in front of me. I felt myself slipping, getting carried away.

I almost walked towards the scent, when Hannah's voice broke through ,"Honey what's wrong?"

I opened my eyes, which I hadn't realised I had shut and looked agape at everyone. My heart beat raised, I was certain even a human would be able to hear it. It was fear, excitement and most importantly. Terror.

I heard a voice which I hadn't heard in a long time tearing my head apart as it roared, "Mate!"

The bell rang, "Oh, looks like Adrian's here." Charlie commented. I gulped.
