Ember's POV
Pain shot through my stomach like someone had punched me. My eyes went open as I gasped for air.
"She's awake!" someone shouted.
I tried to sit up, but gentle hands pushed me back down. Everything hurt. My head, my arms, my entire body felt like I'd been hit by a truck.
Which I guess I had been.
"Easy there," a woman's voice said. "You need to stay still."
I blinked until my eyes focused. A Chinese woman with kind eyes was looking down at me. She wore a white coat that had blood stains on it.
"Where am I?" My voice came out as a whisper.
"You're safe. I'm Dr. Sarah Chen. You've been unconscious for three days."
"Three days?" I tried to remember what happened. The truck chase. The narrow mountain road. The tree blocking our path. Then... nothing.
"The baby," I said suddenly, my hand flying to my stomach. "Is my baby okay?"
Dr. Chen smiled. "Your babies are fine."
"Babies?" I stared at her. "What do you mean, babies?"
