Ash's POV
I kicked the cabin door so hard it almost broke off its hinges.
"Sarah! Sarah, I need help!"
Ember was limp in my arms, her face white as snow. Blood soaked through her clothes and onto mine. She hadn't woken up since passing out in the truck.
"Sarah!" I yelled again.
The door flew open. Dr. Sarah Chen stood there in pajamas, her black hair messy from sleep. When she saw Ember, her eyes went wide.
"What happened?"
"Car crash...She's pregnant...She's bleeding."
"How far along?"
"I don't know. Maybe three months?"
Sarah stepped aside so I could carry Ember inside. "Put her on the kitchen table. Now."
I laid Ember down as gently as I could. Under the bright lights, I could see how bad things were. Her skin was gray. Her breathing was shallow and fast.
"She's losing too much blood," Sarah said, checking Ember's pulse. "How long has she been unconscious?"
"Twenty minutes. Maybe more."
"And the bleeding started when?"
"During the crash. It's been getting worse."
