POV: Ember
The power flowing through me suddenly stopped when I heard gunshots in the distance.
"The other supernatural creatures are here early," Agent Smith said, checking his radio. "My team is engaging hostiles at the town border."
More gunfire echoed through the night air. Someone screamed.
"Mama, the bad things are getting closer," Hope whispered, her eyes still glowing silver.
I could sense them too. Vampires, demons, witches - all heading straight for us. All wanting my children.
"Agent Smith," I said urgently, "how many of your people are out there?"
"Twelve agents. Against at least fifty supernatural creatures."
"Your people are going to die."
"They knew the risks when they took this job."
But I could see the worry in his eyes. These weren't just employees to him. They were his team.
"There's another way," I said, my omega instincts kicking in. "Let me help them."
"Help them how?"
