Chapter 95 - The Facility

POV: Ash

Hunter threw up again, this time all over the laboratory floor.

"I'm sorry, Daddy Ash," he whispered, tears streaming down his pale face. "I couldn't hold it in."

"It's okay, buddy," I said, holding him close while the scientists cleaned up the mess. "You're being so brave."

But inside, I was furious. This was the fifth time this week that my son had gotten sick after their "harmless tests."

"Mr. Blackwood," Dr. Reynolds said, making notes on his clipboard. "Hunter's reaction to the power extraction procedure is stronger than expected."

"Power extraction?" I stood up carefully, still holding my son. "You said you were just measuring his abilities."

"We are. Extraction is simply the process of drawing out small amounts of supernatural energy for analysis."

"You're draining my son's power?"

"Only temporarily. It regenerates within hours."

"And that's supposed to make me feel better?"
