XANDER
One of the guards in front of Vera's door rushed to open it as Vera's loud voice filtered across the room.
"...you are always so damned clumsy, Sharon."
Her maid was on the floor, scrubbing at a spilled powder compact with a soaked rag while muttering frantic apologies.
"Do you have any idea how expensive that is? I swear, no one else could ever put up with your stupidity–"
She broke off abruptly when she saw me enter. The scowl vanished, replaced by an eager smile but I had seen it all. It was as if the moon goddess was literally planting answers to my doubts. While Emma was so loving to Lita that the girl had spoken so highly of her even in her absence, Vera's choice of words could make her maid commit suicide at any point in time.
It made me wonder what else she was capable of doing and how long had it taken for me to see it.
"It's been before you all this while. You just chose to be blind to it." Halo chimed in.
