XANDER
I didn't know how the hell Xerxes stood this.
One sleepless night and I already felt like climbing the damn walls. My skull throbbed, my muscles ached, and even my legs were punishing me from pacing both my room and the corridors half the night.
First, there had been Vera's little threat about what had happened years back and then when I'd gone back to Emma's room, she still wasn't there.
She wasn't anywhere.
Not in the pack house, not by the gardens, not even near the damn training grounds. The guards had no clue either, which only pissed me off more.
Didn't Emma realize she couldn't just slip out whenever she felt like it? Especially at night?
"She could be in danger," Halo, my wolf, whispered at the back of my mind.
I shook my head sharply, dismissing the thought. No. I wasn't letting my instincts spiral.
Still muttering curses under my breath, I crossed the room again and then froze.
