Chapter 242 - What Else Can They Do? Surrender!

On the northwest coast of the island of the Kingdom of Rephar, in front of the military fortress and the primary frontline against their enemy, the Laguna Kingdom.

However, Laguna had not attacked. This place had become a mountain of corpses, all caused by a single pirate.

"Why…"

Standing in the middle of the corpses, the dying general of the Rephar Kingdom's army looked at the bodies of his subordinates, using his last bit of strength to ask the man in front of him, "Why… did you attack us… You don't want money or women. As a pirate… do you just kill for the sake of killing?"

He recognized the man. The day after Alucard appeared in Mariejois and was discovered by Kong, news of the great pirate Alucard's reappearance in the New World after half a year had spread across the globe.

Given Alucard's current notoriety, no one would be foolish enough to only know his name and not his face.

However, a pirate who would intervene in a war not for money or women seemed so unbelievable that when the reality was right in front of him, it was surreal.

"Someone who has killed others has already shown they are prepared to be killed."

Alucard stood across from the man, also in the center of the corpses. He chuckled. "Why ask so many questions?"

The man closed his eyes, using the last few seconds of his life to reflect on his actions. In the end, he smiled. "Heh… You're right. I have killed many people. I have no right to question you."

"Oh… you're very accepting…"

Alucard said, half-praising him, but he still mercilessly aimed his gun at the man's forehead.

BANG!

"I'll… wait for you in the other world!"

Those were the last words the man said before he died.

Alucard put his gun back under his coat, a slight hint of his false fangs showing. "Then you'll probably have to wait for a very, very long time."

As soon as he finished speaking, the shadow beneath Alucard's feet rapidly expanded. The blood pool materialized, like a surging tsunami, enveloping the countless corpses on the coast and slowly absorbing them into the blood pool.

Feeling life pouring into his River of Death, Alucard spread his arms wide and laughed maniacally. "This time, I might get a little full!"

In less than twenty hours since Alucard landed on Rephar Island, the Rephar Kingdom's army of six thousand was completely wiped out.

Such a major event was quickly reported to the kings of both Rephar and Laguna.

When the King of Rephar heard the news, it was as if he had been struck by lightning.

But the deed was done. He could only count himself unlucky. After all, in this vast world, countless countries went to war every day. The one that was targeted by Alucard could only resign themselves to their fate.

What else could they do? Were they supposed to use the remaining soldiers in their kingdom to seek revenge?

That wouldn't be revenge; it would be the definite end of their kingdom.

The King of Rephar knew exactly what he had to do.

He immediately recalled the remaining troops that Alucard hadn't killed and ceased fighting.

After all, Alucard had done this many times before, and many people knew what to do to minimize casualties.

And the King of Rephar wasn't worried that the enemy country, Laguna, would take advantage of the situation. He knew that Alucard's next target would be them.

Indeed, that was the case. When King of the Laguna Kingdom, Avien Gyneas, learned that Alucard had completely annihilated the army of the enemy Kingdom of Rephar, he wasn't happy at all. He even sighed, knowing full well that Alucard's next target was his own army.

An official suggested to the King, who was sighing on his throne, "Your Majesty, we should retreat immediately! According to our investigation, that man named Alucard has always killed on the battlefield but has never attacked a country. As long as we retreat…"

"Nonsense," another minister said with disdain. "We are only thirty nautical miles from the Kingdom of Rephar, and our border army is over a hundred miles from the capital. Can our soldiers' retreat be faster than Alucard's ship? If we retreat now, he will slaughter us all from behind."

"Then what do you suggest?" the first minister asked in dissatisfaction.

Another person then suggested, "Your Majesty, I have an idea."

Gyneas looked up slightly at the old man who was speaking. "If you have a suggestion, speak plainly. This concerns the lives of nearly ten thousand of our royal soldiers."

"Yes." The old man bowed and said, "Immediately order the army to tear down all the white sails from our ships and tie them to bamboo poles to be waved as white flags."

Everyone present was shocked. Many immediately protested.

"You, you want us to surrender to a pirate?"

"What kingdom surrenders to a pirate?"

"How will we ever face our people and other countries again?"

The old man ignored the protests of the other ministers. He continued, "It's no longer a rare thing for a newspaper to report that a pirate has occupied an island or even a country. Our nation is facing a crisis of survival. We can only surrender and see if he'll spare us. If he does, it's great. If he doesn't, it's not too late to fight."

Gyneas was silent for a while before finally speaking. "Do as he says. Hurry!"

"Your Majesty!"

"Your Majesty! How can we do this?!" the ministers exclaimed in shock.

"Yes!" The old man bowed again and left quickly.

Two hours later.

Alucard stepped onto the land of the Laguna Kingdom. But as soon as he got off his ship, he didn't see the military fortresses or patrols like he had in Rephar. Instead, he saw ships with their sails torn off and white flags planted everywhere on the coast.

White flags signified surrender on the battlefield, and it was the same in this world.

"What does this mean?" Alucard wondered to himself, or perhaps to no one in particular.

Soon, a group of armored men came down the rocky path from the cliffs on the coast, reaching Alucard. The leader respectfully said, "Alucard-san, I am Walder Sabaku, the commander of the Laguna army. His Majesty, King Gyneas, is awaiting your arrival."
