Chapter 96 - Chapter 96 - A Plea for Guilt, A Glimmer of Faith

Juliana's POV

I heard voices outside my hospital room door before it opened. My heart raced as I recognized Imogen's hushed, urgent tone.

"I told you, we need to handle this immediately. Dylan called me last night and—"

The door swung open, and Imogen froze mid-sentence when she saw me sitting up in bed. Behind her stood Cameron and Evelyn Johnson—my supposed father and the woman who had always shown me kindness.

"Juliana, you're awake." Mrs. Johnson rushed forward while the others lingered by the door. Her cool hand touched my forehead. "How are you feeling, dear?"

"Better," I said, watching Imogen's eyes dart nervously around the room, perhaps looking for Nathaniel. He'd stepped out moments ago to take a call, something about work.

"Good, good." Mrs. Johnson's smile was strained but genuine. Unlike the cold stares from Cameron and Imogen.

Cameron Johnson cleared his throat. "The doctors say you'll be discharged tomorrow. That was... quick."
