Chapter 2 - I am back!

Evelyn opened her eyes and was shocked to find herself alive.

Didn't I just die? She pondered as she gripped the white sheets beneath her.

"Welcome Lady Nightshade," A loud, shrill, ringing voice echoed beside her ear. It sounded like a little girl with a strange accent.

"What are you?" Evelyn asked the voice with a trace of irritation in her calm and unfazed voice.

" I am Bell, your pet fairy. I am from the Seelie court of fae blood," It replied as eagerly as possible.

Bell? Why does that sound familiar? Evelyn was sure she had heard that name before. And Nightshade?

"My name is Evelyn King," Evelyn corrected and climbed out of the bed. "And you're a pixie?" She asked as she looked at the tiny winged creature sitting on her shoulder.

Bell was a fae blood from the Seelie court. She was very talkative and had a tendency

The scent in the room was very familiar. It was like she had been here before. The purple curtains…the large ornate mirror, the magnificent bookshelf… it felt like a forgotten memory.

The moonlight streaked through the window casting a beautiful glow on the wooden floor. The room gave off the vibe of royalty with high quality furnishings.

"Lady Nightshade… isn't this your home?" Bell asked with amusement in her voice.

"Is this?" She asked as she placed a finger on the couch by the large floor to ceiling window. "Who am I?"

The answer to that question was near, yet it seemed so out of reach. She looked at the moon hanging in the sky with a galaxy of stars illuminating the night sky.

"What's this feeling? It's like I've been here before," Evelyn murmured. The only thing she remembered was her name.

(It's Déja Vu.) Bell replied silently. (Lady Nightshade, do you really not remember anything?)

Evelyn hesitated. Why do you call me Lady Nightshade?

(She really doesn't remember anything!) Bell freaked out internally.

It was okay if she didn't remember Bell, but her past life? She only remembers her name!

"Oh wait!" Evelynexclaimed dramatically. "Oh my… it's nothing after all."

Bell thought Evelyn crazy and gently shook her head. Does she have a head?!

Anyways….

Evelyn looked down at the garden. The poppies were in full bloom and the air was fragrant. Suddenly, she clutched her head and fell to the ground.

She turned to look at the ceiling and the once wooden ceiling was now her past life playing like a movie before her. Everything came back.

She lay down there till the next morning watching as her past life played before her like a movie. The sounds of footsteps at the door averted her attention from the ceiling. She gently sat up with a knowing smile.

I am back! She exclaimed in her mind.

(Yes, Lady Nightshade . You are!!) Bell exclaimed excitedly.

Knock!

Knock!

In her past life, her sister, Amber, had drugged her in an attempt to kill her, and was here to check out if she was dead. Although she didn't die in her past life, she still wanted to scare her sister.

She walked back to the bed and lie in it like a dead fish. The knocks came again—this time louder than the previous.

The door slowly opened and a lady walked in. This was the beautiful and graceful heroine, Amber King AKA, Evelyn's stepsister.

She was indeed very beautiful with smooth rosy skin, arctic blue eyes, thin eyebrows, a graceful figure, full red lips , and waist length onyx black hair carefully combed with precision.

She was wearing a white gown with carefully embroidered patterns of flowers and beautiful glistening jewels embedded in it. The bodice of the sleeveless gown was covered in jewels and the neckline barely covered her cleavage. The skirt was flowing and covered in embroidery.

She looked so undeniably beautiful.

She stood at the door for a while before walking into the room. She glanced at the figure lying so quietly on the bed and smirked.

"Evelyn!" She called out sweetly, sat on the bed and took Evelyn's hand in hers. "Someone call a physician!!" She wailed.

The house was in a panic. Guards and maids crashed into each other in search of the royal physician. Amber looked at Evelyn's pale face and smiled.

I hope you have a wonderful afterlife. She said in her mind.

An old man rushed into the room. He had long white beard and short grey hair. He was wearing a blue and white physician's robe and looked so solemn like he was about to perform a heart surgery.

"What's the emergency?" his deep low voice rang through the room.

Amber immediately stood up from the bed. "Physician, please check my sister. She refused to wake up."

"You summon me here for Lady Evelyn?" He asked with a hint of mockery in his voice. "Lady Amber should worry more about herself."

Evelyn was not liked by the entire King family. She was an eyesore to her brothers, a nuisance to her father and to Amber….she was a hindrance to her success, so she devised every plan to eliminate her. Alas, she always failed miserably.

"I know you might not want to treat her, but she's still my sister. Just check her please," she sounded like she was about to cry.

"It's okay, Lady Amber. I'll do my best to treat your sister. You're such a nice person, and Lady Evelyn deserves not to be your sister," the physician replied and walked to the bed.

What trick is this devilish girl playing? He said to himself as he checked her pulse. There was nothing.

"She's dead," he stated like it was the most casual thing in the world. "My condolences," and he walked away.

Amber sat on the floor and hot tears streamed down her face. The guards and maids felt extremely sorry for her and sympathized. Except, only Evelyn knew what a two-faced witch she was, but she had no plans of revealing Amber's schemes.

Why did the physician feel no pulse? Evelyn asked Bell, for she was sure she was still alive and kicking. Her sister's cries echoed through the room and irritated her.

(I was the mastermind. Don't worry, you're alive and kicking. Now, lets give this scheming fox a heart attack.) Bell was extremely excited and so was Evelyn. She couldn't wait to see the look on her sister's face.

But, she had to play this game a lil' longer.

Amber stood up from the ground, dusted her skirt, and turned around to leave with a victory smile plastered on her face.

Don't get too excited, sis, the game has just begun.

Amber turned to look at Evelyn one last time before walking away, "I'll be sure to attend your funeral."
