Jinpachi wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth. "I don't know what kind of weapon you're using to be able to contend with my Blastsword, Shibuki."
Natsuhi just gave a cold laugh, brandishing her chakra weapon once more.
Watching her relentless approach, Jinpachi grit his teeth, his eyes filled with malice. "Die!" he roared, raising the Blastsword high and bringing it down with all his might. The force of the blow carved a deep trench through the forest floor. At the other end of the chasm stood Natsuhi, her weapon and shield ready.
A thick cloud of dust obscured her from view. As it settled, Jinpachi frowned. His full-power strike had shattered Natsuhi's shield.
"Fire Style! Phoenix Sage Fire Jutsu!"
Several searing fireballs shot out from the dust cloud towards Jinpachi. He immediately swung the Blastsword to defend himself.
Boom!
A series of explosions erupted from the Blastsword itself. The fireballs had ignited the explosive tags woven into the blade, and the resulting shockwaves traveled up the sword, causing Jinpachi's hand to bleed.
"You… you bastard!" Jinpachi howled, quickly forming hand seals. "Water Style! Water Wall!"
A towering wall of water instantly appeared before him, intercepting the rest of Natsuhi's fireballs.
"This must be Natsuhi's last stand," Kusuo thought, watching her with a tense expression.
After unleashing that jutsu, Natsuhi fell to her knees, exhausted. Although she had pushed her chakra to its absolute limit, the toll on her body was immense. Jinpachi had not even unleashed his full power, yet Natsuhi was already spent.
"Peacock… Peacock Method… Slash!" With a fanatic gleam in her eyes, her chakra flared to life once more.
Kusuo watched in astonishment. Her chakra, which should have been completely depleted, was now burning brightly again. "Where is she getting all this chakra from?" he wondered. Observing her more closely, he finally noticed the anomaly. Tiny fragments of the Star meteorite were flowing through her very veins, constantly gathering chakra for her. That was how she was able to replenish her reserves time and time again in battle.
"If I had known it had such an effect, I would have taken the whole thing," Kusuo mused. But the meteorite had already been forged into his dagger; there was no way to use it now.
"If you're so determined to die, then I'll grant your wish!" Jinpachi roared, his hands flying through seals. "Water Style! Water Bullet Jutsu!"
The power of his technique was worlds apart from the one used by the Anbu earlier. A massive barrage of water bullets shot towards both Kusuo and Natsuhi. Kusuo simply drew his blade.
"Sun Breathing, Fifth Form: Fire Wheel!"
A roaring flame incinerated every last water bullet. At the same time, Natsuhi unleashed her own attack.
"Fire Style! Great Fireball Jutsu!"
A torrent of flame erupted from her mouth. The two fire attacks merged, completely engulfing Jinpachi.
"Water Style! Water Wall!" Jinpachi managed to erect another defense, just barely protecting himself. But as he prepared to counter, a figure burst through the flames. It was Natsuhi. She swung a long blade of condensed chakra at his arm. Jinpachi instinctively blocked with the Blastsword, and the resulting explosion sent Natsuhi flying backward. However, propelled by the blast's momentum, her attack followed through, striking the Blastsword aside and slicing deep into Jinpachi's arm.
As Jinpachi staggered back, the arm fell to the ground, blood spraying from the wound. Kusuo, watching from the side, noticed something strange. The wound didn't seem to affect Jinpachi significantly, and he could see chakra threads emerging from the severed limb. Closing his eyes, Kusuo focused his Transparent World on Jinpachi's body.
