Luo Mansion.
The atmosphere was chaotic. Servants and clansmen rushed in every direction, hanging banners, setting up lanterns, and decorating the grand halls. Today was no ordinary day—the only son of the late family head was about to be married.
After this wedding, the clan elders would also choose a new family head. Young Master Luo Tian had finally reached adulthood, but since he was known to be slow-witted, everyone understood he would never inherit the position.
Deep inside the mansion, inside a room, Luo Yan was wiping her tears away and opening many boxes that contained new clothes—most of them revealing. Her life had changed drastically when her stepbrother all of a sudden became happy seeing her.
The clan elders had decided to cash in the favor the Emperor owed to General Luo Fan, her adoptive father who died on the northern border. Using that debt, they asked for her hand in marriage as repayment. There was nothing she could've done to stop it.
Now she had to marry this fool of a stepbrother.
"I never imagined marrying my stepbrother like this… Well, this is fine as well. My Prince doesn't need me as much as my brother," Luo Yan muttered, accepting her fate.
She was still grateful to Luo Fan. He had given her everything he had, raising her like his own daughter. So she chose not to complain. Instead, she steeled herself, ready to sacrifice her life to care for her brother.
Luo Tian's Chamber.
Usually this time around Young Master Luo Tian would sleep peacefully, but tonight he was awake, the dull eyes of a fool were nowhere to be seen, and his eyes were sharp and calculating. He was sitting in a wooden chair, and in front of him were some pieces of herb he bought this morning. Before he could buy more, he was dragged back inside the mansion.
"Damn it!! These fools, treating me like a fool. With these herbs, I can cultivate till the Peak Qi Refining stage. To think the Ancestor of Humanity has to pretend to be a fool… I can't do anything either, and if I seem suspicious, they might want to kill me first and ask me anything later."
Luo Tian, the fool, was no more in this world. Last night his body was taken over by a reincarnating soul—the Ancestor of Humanity, the one who fought evil all his life, now forced to pretend to be a fool. Otherwise, if the clan elders discovered he had even regained his sanity, they wouldn't think twice before killing him.
"If those temples in the Lower Plane knew the Ancestor of Humanity was forced to act like a fool here, they would rush down and obliterate the entire Mortal Realm without hesitation."
Luo Tian smiled with confidence as he said this. He was certain of his rise now that he had been reborn again. These were just temporary setbacks—soon, everything would return to its rightful place under his feet.
"Eh! Now that I think about it, my adoptive sister can be given 100 points on looks alone. Hehe… not bad for my first bride."
*Knock, knock*
The sudden noise on the door pulled Luo Tian out of his daydream. He quickly blew out the small candle with his fingers so no one would suspect anything. Then he fixed his fool face, letting drool hang at the corner of his lips, and slowly went to open the door.
"You're never supposed to close your door, I will clean the bed for you, eh! Look at you looking like a sane person, fucking numb skull."
A maid entered the room, she was in her late fifties, a mere mortal, but she had taken care of this dimwit for 18 years.
Fuck! I would slap you to death when I become the next family head.
After cleaning up the room, she purposefully opened the door wide and pointed at it to Luo Tian so that he could understand he's not allowed to close it no matter what.
Fucking shit, I have to cultivate after everyone falls asleep in the night.
Luo Tian just sat there in his bed like a fool, seeing his wedding preparations being done by other people. The sun slowly set in the horizon. Luo Tian didn't move, he couldn't move actually, because someone was watching his movements from the dark.
Soon that feeling of being watched over was gone, so Luo Tian relaxed a little, if he were not as experienced as he was, he wouldn't even notice someone was watching him from somewhere.
Damn! They don't take chances, do they? Every turn is a dangerous game for me.
Wait… what's that? Someone strong is rushing here.
Luo Tian stood up in shock. The aura was closing in fast, way beyond anything he could handle right now. His body trembled. With his current strength, he couldn't do a damn thing against whoever was coming.
*BAAAM*
Suddenly Luo Tian's roof was blasted open, and a young man with disheveled hair fell straight down, smashing into the wooden table and chair, breaking them in the process. His body still carried huge momentum and slammed Luo Tian against the floor, wooden shards stabbing into them both. Blood leaked from the corners of their mouths.
"We reached here by the night, True Disciple Ximen. As you requested, please take healing medicine and rest for today, I will take my leave for now."
Elder Chen Tao was now standing with his neat and clean clothes, with a small glee in his mouth as he respectfully walked out of the room.
Hehe, serves you right! bugging to *speed up Elder* the whole way, even though you're so fucking heavy
"T…Thank you, Elder."
Ximen replied as he was mangled up with Luo Tian, who was looking like a fierce tiger, but Ximen could care less about a mortal servant.
*Thaaap*
"You reek, Mongrel. Go fetch me your master."
Wang Ximen slapped the back of Luo Tian's head while pinching his nose because of a certain smell from Luo Tian.
