The morning sun poured through the silk-draped windows, casting a gentle glow across the room.
Yasaka slowly stirred, eyes blinking open to a warmth she hadn't felt in ages. For a moment, she simply listened to the rhythm of Kunou's breathing beside her, the tiny fox curled under the sheets, her tails twitching with each peaceful dream.
She looked down and smiled faintly, brushing her daughter's bangs aside. Safe. Untroubled. Finally.
Then came the voices.
Muffled, outside.
She stood quietly, slid open the door, and stepped barefoot into the open courtyard.
The soft breeze greeted her, and with it, the sight of Kealthar standing beneath the morning sky, speaking with Rias, Akeno, and Koneko. Their faces were attentive, serious, a rare stillness between them.
Kealthar turned the moment she stepped into view.
"You're up," he said.
Yasaka smiled gently. "I am. Slept better than I have in years."
He nodded. "Good. You'll need your strength."
The weight of the night before settled over her again. That moment beneath the stars, the admission, the determination.
"I remember what I said," Yasaka said. "And I meant it. I'm ready."
Kealthar didn't hesitate.
With a simple motion, space itself folded around them.
One breath.
And they were elsewhere.
The courtyard was gone. In its place stood an open, endless field of golden grass beneath a vast blue sky. Not a teleportation. No magic circle. No surge of energy.
They hadn't been moved.
The world around them had been rewritten.
Rias looked around. "That wasn't teleportation."
"You didn't move," Kealthar said. "I brought the destination to you. It's a fold in space. One of many things you'll learn… if you choose this path."
Koneko narrowed her eyes. "You said something about godhood."
He nodded. "Today, you begin your first steps toward it."
Silence fell.
"Godhood isn't about being worshiped," he continued. "It's about understanding what you are. Truly understanding. And turning that truth into power."
He raised his hand. Light formed mid-air, sculpting a floating diagram of a figure split into three parts.
Body. Soul. Concept.
"This is the foundation of divinity. Your body is your vessel. Your soul is your identity. But your concept... that is your truth. It is the law of what you are."
The diagram pulsed. Concepts radiated from it: fire, love, vengeance, creation, silence, light, hunger.
"A true god is not made by power levels or worshipers. A true god is someone who has bonded with a concept so deeply, so completely, that they become a living manifestation of it."
Akeno crossed her arms. "So we just pick one? Like choosing magic?"
"No," Kealthar said. "You don't choose your concept. You find it. You live it. It reveals itself when you understand who you truly are."
He turned to Rias. "Say you pursue justice, but deep inside, you live for control. Then justice will never bond with you. It would tear you apart."
He gestured again. Another image formed—a goddess, beautiful and radiant, her presence commanding.
"She was one of the early ascendants. Her concept was love and beauty. Her very existence inspired it. And because she mastered it… she could govern it."
"Govern?" Rias echoed.
"Concepts can be wielded like weapons," Kealthar explained. "But when you understand a concept deeper than any other being—you can lock it from others. Not forever. But you can slow or block their growth in that domain. It's not an act of dominance. It's a truth of reality. Understanding governs evolution."
Yasaka stepped forward slowly. "And the divine body?"
Kealthar nodded. "You can't wield a concept in a mortal body. Not without dying. The strain would tear your soul apart. To truly hold one, your vessel must be reforged. Not through force—but through alignment."
Akeno furrowed her brow. "So what do we do?"
"You meditate," Kealthar said. "You confront who you are. Your strengths. Your failures. Your regrets. You dig through your pain, your fears, your hopes. And if you're honest—truly honest—your concept will begin to stir."
Koneko looked skeptical. "And if we fail?"
"Then you try again," he said. "This path isn't fast. It's not easy. But it is real. And once you start it… you don't turn back."
Yasaka stared at her hands. She remembered holding Kunou as the corruption spread inside her without warning. Remembered the helplessness.
"I want to try," she said.
Kealthar turned to her.
"Not because I want to be powerful. But because I never want to be blind again. I want to protect them. I want to be strong enough to see what others can't."
He looked at her for a long moment.
Then nodded.
"Then let's begin."
