-CHAPTER 5-
- FUSHIGURO MEGUMI POV-
I performed the hand signs. In the shadows it looked like a flying bird. "[Nue]" I intoned as the shadows in front of us bulged and a small car sized owl-like bird with bright orange colored feathers, a white mask like skull, large wings, two sets of sharp talons and human-like teeth flew out screeching as lightning crackled in its wings as it headed straight for me.
"SCREEEEE!!!"
-Is it just me or is Nue bigger than Megumi's?
I held my ears in pain but still yelled out the orders. "SHIRO! KURO! PROTECT!" This time they were ready and lying in wait in my shadow and as soon as Nue came near they jumped out straight in the bird's face.
"SCREEE!!" The Shikigami screeched as it tried to remove the two dogs hanging onto its feathers by taking flight and using its shock ability.
As Nue could fly I wouldn't be able to do much in this fight but there was a reason I had chosen a closed off space to fight all these Shikigami.
My shadow advantage…
-But then the next stage of my plan came into effect. "GAMA! DOWN THAT BIRD!"
-And faster than anybody could perceive it, a black tongue the size of a human exited from the shadows above Nue at superhuman speed and punched the owl like Muhammad Ali at the speed of a bullet train.
BAMM!
Nue crashed into the ground screeching in pain but before it could fly up again and resume the aerial advantage, Gama once again became useful by restraining the bird with his tongue.
SPARK!
CRACKLE~!
But it wouldn't be so for long… I came to the obvious conclusion as I ran towards the owl with my bat. Because as Nue was thrashing to escape it was repeatedly using his lightning wings to shock the poor frog's tongue. "Kuro! Shiro! Cut its wings off!"
""BARK!""
But as they tried to accomplish their orders, they were only partially successful in damaging it, as soon Gama's tongue was too paralyzed to restrain it and the owl escaped, easily throwing the wolves off. Fuck! Gama won't be able to be of much use now… Unless…
As the owl like Shikigami hovered above us, probably making a plan of its own (it was fact now that all of these Shikigami had some level of intelligence) I unsummoned Gama to once again summon him. And to my joy it worked! He wasn't paralyzed anymore!
Unfortunately, my CE reserves were half empty, so reluctantly I unsummoned Divine Dogs, as they weren't of much use in this battle.
I fastened my metal bat as I looked up at the flying owl. I'll have to do this myself… of course Gama was there to help me.
But how do I reach the bird, it could wait in the air for my CE to run out then pick me off easily… I have an idea…"I guess it is Plan B Gama." I smirked cause' Plan B was fun after all. "Send me up!" and in a millisecond Gama caught me with his tongue and threw me flying towards the bird.
Nue's eyes popped open in surprise. I smirked as the wind blew through my face. "What did you think I was like the other summoners? Preferring to fight in the back!?" I held my bat up and reinforced it with CE.
Nue tried to move away, but Gama once again punched the owl in its back, sending it flying straight towards me. I smiled in exhilaration now starting to fall but once again Gama wrapped me up and sent me towards the bird with double the force. Soon we were only a few feet away from each other and I charged the bat to the brim with CE. "FUCK THAT SHIT!"
Fighting in the back just didn't provide the sheer exhilaration that fighting on the front provided.
BOOOM! The bat exploded as it hit the Shikigami causing the shrapnel to lodge into its body as it also became dizzy from the shockwave falling towards the ground.
Fortunately for me though, Gama protected me from the shrapnel with his tongue coming between their trajectories taking the brunt of the damage. Of course, I still felt the shockwave but due to reinforcing my body with CE at the last second so I was left relatively harmless.
Unfortunately, the fight hadn't ended yet. "We can't let go of this opportunity Gama! Send me towards him!" Gama despite his tongue being injured, compiled with my order, his tongue launching me down towards the falling owl.
I took out another metal bat from my shadow, the total darkness of the warehouse helping me access it anywhere here. Using the momentum built I held the bat upwards and filled it with CE. "HOMERUN!" I yelled as both of us crashed into the ground with my bat meeting Nue's skulls.
CRACK!
But once again rather than stopping and giving the Shikigami a chance to recover, I started repeatedly hitting the owl with it.
BAM! BAM! BAM! BAM! BAM!
I breathed heavily as I stopped and looked at the crushed and disintegrating remains of the Shikigami. After unsummoning Gama, I wiped the sweat from my forehead and laughed. "Who would've thought that I would enjoy fighting?" You find something new about yourself every day I guess.
CLINK!
And I had just tamed my third ever Shikigami. I laughed in happiness as I plopped myself down on the floor. "Welcome to the team Nue."
And as I laid back and started regenerating my CE back, I thought. And I'm not even that beat up this time.
