DarkSync: Shadow Protocol

Chapter 3: The Signal That Shook the Stars

[Flashback – Earth, Year 2050]

It began with a whisper.

A hum too low for mortal ears to register, too fleeting for any instrument to trace. Somewhere in a forgotten underground facility, buried under strata of erased history and collapsed federations, it stirred.

[SYNC: OBSD‑00 Protocol – Engaging Primordial Synchronization...]

[Obsidia Core Interface Breach – 0.000008s window]

[Source Connection: Established]

A pulse.

A heartbeat from beyond reality.

All across Earth – every satellite, server, lightbulb, screen, drone, mech – shut down in perfect unison.

A tremor ripped through subspace.

Reality shivered.

Time stuttered.

[Synchronization Protocol Initiated…]

Then –

a voice.

"Stop."

It was not spoken.

It commanded.

Heavy. Abyssal. So frigid it made eternity flinch.

It did not echo in air.

It echoed in existence itself.

With that single word, Time Halted – not universally, but within the sealed microcosm surrounding the Core.

All movement ceased.

Light froze mid‑ray.

Entropy paused.

And then… it descended.

A presence older than stars, deeper than the void between galaxies.

The Source of Darkness – pure will, formless, infinite – settled upon the Obsidia Core.

[Override Accepted]

[Synchronization Detected]

[Designation Update: Obsidia Core → Dark Core]

The shift was instantaneous.

The Core's glow deepened – from polished obsidian to a consuming, abyssal black, swirling with fractal shadows that devoured all light. The very code of its being rewrote itself beneath the Source's dominance.

Then:

[Time Resume]

The signal vanished.

The fluctuation – severed.

Just for a heartbeat.

Like the universe had blinked.

Airplanes plummeted into freefall. Cars died mid‑turn. Cities drowned in sudden darkness. People screamed, disoriented, as physics itself seemed to hesitate.

Then everything jolted back online.

No explanation. No logs. No evidence.

But in that forgotten facility, the boy opened his eyes.

The scene zoomed outward.

Past Earth.

Past the Moon.

Past the Solar System.

Through the swirling arms of the Andromeda Expanse…

Farther…

Past a billion burning stars…

Until the view pierced a blindingly bright cluster of light – dense, volatile, godlike in scale.

Zypheris Cluster.

The Heart of the Universe.

Where stars are forged and civilizations burn brighter than empires.

Floating at its center:

Aetherion.

A mecha‑shaped supercivilization, humanoid in form, angelic in presence. Towering constructs of iridescent alloy and plasma soared like deities through an eternal skyline. Cities stacked in spiral fractals. Artificial stars tamed and harnessed like obedient flames.

Inside a towering citadel of dark chrome and flowing light, a figure stood.

Massive. Regal. Eyes glowing with ancient, living code.

The Sovereign of Aetherion.

A soft blue light flickered behind him.

"Master," a female voice spoke.

An Aetherion operative stepped forward, her armor elegant yet lethal, etched with quantum script. Her face was human – but perfected.

Nytherion: What is it, Celestia?

Celestia: A fluctuation has been detected. A pulse from the Obsidia Core.

The room fell silent. Even the AI‑guided stars around the citadel paused their rotation.

The Sovereign's expression darkened.

Impossible. No being has ever survived contact with the Core. To my knowledge, no one can wield that power… or control it.

The woman nodded.

Yet… the energy spike was unmistakable. Only for a microsecond – but the frequency matched the Core's signature perfectly.

The Sovereign turned, stepping toward a floating galactic map.

Nytherion: Where?

She hesitated.

It was… too brief. The signal scattered across dimensional paths. But our models place the activation somewhere within the Central Axis of the Universe – near the Core Spiral.

Zypheris Cluster – Aetherion Citadel

The Sovereign frowned.

Nytherion: Why was the fluctuation so brief? It was barely enough to trace. Something is wrong.

The kneeling Aetherion operative lifted her gaze, unease in her luminous eyes.

Celestia: There was interference. Something stopped the signal. Something halted the Obsidia Core before it could fully activate.

Dead silence.

The Sovereign's voice dropped to a near‑whisper, yet heavy as a collapsed star.

Nytherion: Something… stopped the Core?

He turned slowly, his composure shaken not by fear – but awe.

Nytherion: Then… a force exists that can interfere with the Obsidia Core?

Celestia: Should we dispatch an Observer Unit?

The Sovereign stood motionless for a long, weighted moment.

Then he spoke, voice heavy with ancient knowing.

Nytherion: That region is forbidden. Powerful beings from outside cannot enter that place.

Celestia's brow furrowed. Her calm, curious tone cut the stillness.

Celestia: Why, Master? Why is that region forbidden… even to us?

The Sovereign turned, his gaze fixed on the swirling galactic projection, voice low and layered with forgotten history.

Nytherion: Because that region… is the Core Spiral. The true heart of the universe.

He paused. His eyes glowed brighter as data buried in the oldest archives resurfaced.

Nytherion: It is guarded by the Protectors… beings born not from time, not from evolution, but directly from the Source of Light itself.

The name alone sent a subtle tremor through the room. The AI systems dimmed, as if in reverence.

Nytherion: They forged laws older than matter. One such law restricts the Core Spiral: no being exceeding a set power threshold may cross freely.

Not even us.

The operative's eyes widened.

Celestia: So entities like ourselves… would trigger the protection protocols?

He nodded.

Nytherion: Any intrusion beyond the limit is met with annihilation. Dimensional collapse. Lockdown. Annihilation fields woven by Light itself.

She stepped forward carefully.

Celestia: But the signal came from inside. That means… it did not break the threshold.

Nytherion: Exactly. It did not come from outside.

It was already inside.

He faced her fully.

Nytherion: Someone… or something within the Core Spiral awakened the Obsidia Core.

And did so without breaking the Protectors' laws.

His voice fell to a haunted whisper.

Nytherion: Do you understand what that means?

Celestia: A being powerful enough to synchronize with the Core…

yet subtle enough to bypass the divine laws of Light.

A pause.

Nytherion: This is not just an awakening.

This is a message.
