Chapter 19 - Chapter 17

Author's Pov....

The honeymoon was finally over.

One would expect a newlywed couple to return home glowing with joy, full of sweet memories.

But not Ren.

He stepped out of the car with the expression of a man who just survived a battlefield.

His shoulders slumped, his hair slightly messy from the salty island breeze, and his eyes filled with the sheer exhaustion of dealing with too many husbands packed inside one man.

As they reached the mansion gates, both families were already waiting to welcome them.

Evan's parents looked proud. Ren's parents seemed relieved.

But Ren? Oh, Ren had plans.

Evil plans.

.....Later that evening…..

Ren cheerfully proposed, "Since tomorrow is your anniversary, wouldn't it be nice if both of you stayed here? The Vallen estate is big enough. Let's celebrate together."

The parents, touched by his kindness, quickly agreed.

'Perfect.' Ren smirked internally.

'Let them suffer too. Let them see the madness I live with every day. Let them experience their son-in-law's "multi-pack husband combo!"'

---

The next day, the mansion buzzed with life.

Staff hurried around stringing golden ribbons and hanging white lilies everywhere. Tables were covered with velvet cloths, sparkling silverware neatly arranged, and crystal chandeliers bathed the hall in soft, golden light.

Ren carefully adjusted his black tuxedo, fixing his silver cufflinks as he admired himself in the mirror.

He was ready.

Today, nothing would ruin his peace. Today, he would expose Evan's personalities to both families.

'Let the chaos begin.'

But as he descended the staircase, something immediately felt…off.

His instincts screamed at him.

There was a presence behind him. Quiet. Close. Almost breathing down his neck.

Step.

Step.

Ren sharply turned around—

No one.

Step.

Step.

Again, the sound of footsteps trailing him. His skin tingled.

He spun around for the third time and this time—

A man in a sleek, all-black suit and dark sunglasses stood exactly one step behind him.

"Stay behind me, sir. I will handle everything," the man said with a cold, professional tone.

"…Who are you?" Ren asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Your personal bodyguard. Code name: Hawk," he said, tapping his earpiece.

Ren's lips twitched. "Don't tell me you are Evan."

The man paused dramatically, adjusted his sunglasses, and said with a smirk, "Evan is unavailable. I have taken over his duties for now."

Ren dragged his palm down his face.

Another one? On the anniversary party day? Really?

As the guests arrived, the bodyguard shadowed him like a loyal watchdog.

Every time someone approached Ren—whether a guest, a family member, or even the old gardener—Hawk would swoop in like an overly dramatic hawk.

"Step away. Maintain a minimum three-meter distance from my client."

Even when Ren's own parents came to greet him, Hawk blocked them with his arm. "My apologies, sir, madam. Please stand back. My client is highly valuable."

"That's our son!" Ren's mother protested.

"I don't make the rules. I enforce them," Hawk replied emotionlessly.

Ren wanted to cry and scream.

When he tried to sip his wine, Hawk immediately inspected the glass.

"Possible contamination. Let me test it for you," he said, drinking the entire glass in one go.

Sir, I wasn't going to poison myself with a fruit punch! Ren mentally screamed.

When Ren's father-in-law approached with a warm smile, Hawk was faster.

"Possible threat detected. Please, sir, kindly step away."

"That's my son," Evan's father said, deadpan.

"Your relationship is irrelevant to security protocols," Hawk recited, as if he had memorized an entire security manual just for this.

Unbelievable.

This man is guarding me like I'm the last croissant in a French bakery.

Ren finally snapped when Hawk began inspecting every single canapé and forcibly confiscating a perfectly normal sandwich from Ren's hand.

"Give. Me. That. Sandwich. It's a sandwich, not a grenade!" Ren growled.

"Not until it passes the security scan," Hawk said, pulling out a tiny fake scanner from his suit pocket and beeping it around the bread.

Ren stomped his foot in frustration.

"Enough! I want a restraining order from this husband!"

Hawk simply leaned in, removed his sunglasses just enough to wink, and whispered, "You are under 24/7 protection, sweetheart. There is no escape from me."

Ren's face turned red, not from affection, but pure rage.

I CAN'T EVEN EAT IN PEACE!

Meanwhile, the two sets of parents stood in the distance, sipping their drinks, completely oblivious to the fact that Evan was switching personalities faster than TV channels.

"Ren looks…quite safe today," Evan's mother smiled proudly.

Ren's father blinked. "Safe? He looks like he is ready to throw himself into the nearest lake to escape your son."

Evan's mother chuckled. "Ah, they grow up so fast."

Ren sighed as he glared at the overprotective bodyguard gluing himself to his back like a clingy ghost.
