The loud clatter echoed across the hall as Ethan dragged out dozens of white treasure chests, stacking them in a huge pile. In just a few minutes, the entire statistics area of the Ravenshade City Job-Change Temple was completely filled.
The temple staff beside him just stared blankly, their mouths hanging open in shock. Ethan looked at them and said calmly,
"Please move aside. I still have more."
"Oh—oh! Yes, yes, of course!"
They snapped out of their daze and hurriedly helped clear the path, pulling their companions back in a panic.
Once the area was cleared, Ethan began placing the second batch—a mountain of green treasure chests. Then came a pile of blues. Then a pile of purples.
By now, everyone present had only one thought:
What kind of monster brings this many treasure chests?
"Is… is Ethan here to run a wholesale business or something?" someone whispered.
"No way. There are a bunch of blue and purple chests?!"
"Just one of those purple chests is enough to get me into a good university…"
But Ethan still wasn't done.
After a deep breath, he opened his storage again.
Golden light burst out, blinding almost everyone nearby.
A wave of disbelief spread instantly.
"A—A golden treasure chest?"
"No one took out a golden one earlier, right? There's no way this is fake!"
"Forget university… with just one golden chest, the top academies would fight over him!"
The statistician rubbed his eyes hard several times, convinced he had gone blind. But when he opened them again, the gold pile was still there… even bigger than before.
He looked at Ethan the way a poor man looks at a god.
Even if Ethan's achievements had nothing to do with him personally, the statistician knew he could brag about this moment for the rest of his life.
To say he once handled the numbers for Ethan—the greatest record-setter in the nation—would be enough to get his name engraved on the wall of honor in the temple.
These numbers weren't just high—they shattered the records of every student in the entire Dragon Kingdom's history.
Ethan looked at him and said casually,
"You can start counting. I still haven't opened everything yet."
"You… there's… more?"
The statistician almost fainted.
"O-Okay… y-you can open them slowly… don't rush, please…"
He hurriedly began counting the piles.
There were tens of thousands of white chests alone.
More than 6,000 green,
More than 4,000 blue,
More than 2,000 purple,
And over 800 golden.
Ethan, as always, had saved the best for last.
Once he opened the final batch, the total number of golden treasure chests he had personally opened reached exactly one thousand.
When he finally wiped the sweat from his forehead, Ethan let out a long sigh.
"It's finally over."
But the crowd around him nearly collapsed.
"You—You should've told us earlier that you were tired! I would've helped open them for free!"
"This is the first time I've ever seen someone tired from opening treasure chests! My heart hurts!"
"I feel worse watching Ethan get tired than if someone stabbed me!"
The golden treasure chests alone meant Ethan's points were guaranteed to be in the tens of millions.
The statistician double-checked again and again, his hands trembling, before finally announcing the number:
"A total of more than twelve million points!"
The hall went dead silent.
"What…? Did I mishear that?"
"That's… about five hundred thousand times more than my score…"
"Let me check! I don't believe Ethan didn't miss any!"
"Me too! Let me at least touch a golden treasure chest!"
"There are so many empty boxes… even keeping them as decorations would make me happy!"
"Hurry! Ask Ethan if he sells empty boxes! I'll buy one as a souvenir!"
Ethan started putting away the empty chests. His summoned beast, Bone Boy, would probably use them as materials or food anyway.
Even though the chests were empty, every single student looked at them with longing eyes, unwilling to see them disappear.
The students' expressions twisted with envy and despair.
The jealousy on their faces was almost carved into their bones.
Truthfully… with Ethan's points alone, every student here could get into a university.
Half of them could get into the top academies.
Someone whispered weakly,
"Please tell me this is a dream… maybe we actually died in the secret realm?"
"If this was a dream, those treasure chests should've been mine…"
"Over 10 million points… that's more than all of us combined multiplied several times!"
"This is terrifying… is this the gap between ordinary people and true professionals?"
"What? He's still human? Ethan's the one who summoned all those giant ants!"
"He killed all those wild monsters AND still had time to protect us… insane!"
"If I had known, I would've thrown myself under those treasure chests earlier!"
Fairwind walked toward Ethan proudly, chest puffed out like he was the one who earned the points. His smug expression seemed to scream:
"See? I'm Ethan's brother."
He had long forgotten the moment when he told Ethan to try killing more monsters than anyone else. That comment now felt like a joke.
Just then, the deputy of the Job-Change Temple approached Ethan respectfully.
"Student Ethan, may I ask… what level are you now?"
He was dying of curiosity.
After opening so many treasure chests, what level had Ethan reached?
"Your level may influence how universities decide their offers. The higher your level, the more they will fight to recruit you."
This was just an excuse.
Ethan's performance was already enough for universities to battle over him.
The deputy simply wanted to satisfy his curiosity… and push Ethan's value even higher so that the top universities would offer even more irresistible deals.
Ethan didn't hide anything.
He replied casually:
"My current level is LV38."
"WHAT?!"
The entire hall exploded again.
