Chapter 37 - A Father's Fury, A Lost Memory

"Where are the ashes, Aurelia?" Julian repeated, his voice now a desperate plea. "Please. I need to know."

I stared up at him from my position on the floor, my back against the wall of our daughter's bedroom. How could he stand there demanding answers when he'd been absent for everything that mattered?

"There are no ashes," I whispered.

Julian's face contorted. "What do you mean, no ashes? Every werewolf is cremated after the ceremony. It's our tradition."

"Not Violet." I forced myself to meet his gaze. "I buried her. With a proper headstone. Where I can visit her."

The color drained from Julian's face. "You buried her? Without consulting me?"

"Consulting you?" My voice cracked with disbelief. "You weren't there! You've never been there!"

Julian's eyes flashed gold as his wolf surged forward. He grabbed my arm and yanked me to my feet.

"Where is she buried? Tell me now!"
