Chapter 2 - A Flower Buried İn Darkness

Chapter 2: A Flower Buried in Darkness

A few days had passed. The police had identified the owner of the number that sent the message and headed to the location.

The coordinates led to the prison cell where Lukas was being held.

Sure enough, when they arrived, it was the correct place. Believing that Lukas had sent the message, they decided to extend his sentence by one more year.

The officers called out:

Police: "Is Lukas here?"

Lukas stood up from the ground. When he saw the police and his wife Emma, he was surprised. For a moment, he felt hopeful — maybe he was getting out…

But instead, he would be sentenced to another year.

Emma looked at Lukas with rage. Her expression was full of hatred.

Without understanding what was going on, Lukas stepped forward.

Lukas: "That's me… Am I being released or…?"

One of the officers replied:

Police: "No. You'll serve one more year. You're being punished for tricking us by sending a message, pretending to be your son."

Lukas (in shock): "What message? I didn't do anything… I don't understand."

The officer scanned him from head to toe. Disgusted by his appearance and condition, he didn't believe a single word Lukas said.

Lukas was at a loss for words.

There was no one left who believed in him.

No one…

Days dragged on. Lukas had grown used to the torment he endured in prison.

Wake up, make breakfast, tidy every bed, massage Frank's head… countless tasks.

If he didn't do them, Frank would beat him.

It was truly painful, but if he fought back, things would only get worse.

One Month Later

It was Monday. Lukas usually woke up early to do his chores, but today was visitation day — he would see Emma.

So he did nothing that morning.

Frank had beaten him, injuring his eye and brow.

He would go to the visitation like that.

Despite everything, he still loved Emma…

Emma hadn't seen him in a while.

For the first time, she pitied her husband — his condition, the wounds on his face, the emptiness in his eyes…

She was truly sad.

Emma: "What happened to you?"

Lukas: "Daily routine."

Emma: "What?"

Lukas: "Forget it. You tell me."

Emma: "Tell you what?"

Lukas: "Has Jake been found? Why did he shoot me?"

With a trembling and sorrowful voice:

Emma: "Jake… was found dead."

Lukas fainted upon hearing that.

Even though Jake wasn't his biological son, he had loved him like his own.

After waking up a while later, he opened his eyes and immediately started asking questions:

Lukas: "How did he die? When? How?"

Emma: "He jumped from a mountain… He committed suicide.

Our son… committed suicide…"

Emma broke into uncontrollable sobs.

Police: "That's enough. Visitation is over."

As Emma walked out, she winked at Lukas and made a hand sign — the same "lock" sign they used when they first got married.

It was their secret signal for when something was wrong.

Clearly, something was going on, but with the guards around, they couldn't talk.

Lukas didn't understand at first…

But then he realized…

There was definitely something behind all this.

Not knowing what to do, Lukas asked the police for permission to call an old friend.

"Everyone needs someone they can lean on when things get tough."

Lukas's friend Alex was his blood brother.

One day, when they were playing soccer in the neighborhood, Lukas had fallen and cut his hand.

Alex laughed. Lukas, confused, asked:

Lukas: "Why are you laughing?"

Alex: "Because now we're blood brothers," he said, picking up a shard of glass and cutting his own wrist.

Lukas watched in shock.

Alex grabbed Lukas's hand and pressed their bleeding cuts together.

Alex: "No matter what happens, we're blood brothers."

From that day on, they remained lifelong friends.

Since Lukas had just seen Emma, he wasn't allowed another phone call — but he had to make one.

For the first time, he decided to ask Frank for something.

Lukas: "I need a phone."

Frank: "Haha, why?"

Lukas: "Leave that to me. I'll do whatever you want."

Frank pulled a phone from his pocket.

Frank: "Here you go."

Lukas asked in surprise:

Lukas: "No conditions?"

Frank: "I overheard your talk. You're in a bad situation.

Family is everything," he said, then quietly walked away, holding back tears.

Apparently, Frank was someone deeply attached to his family.

What could he have gone through to end up here?

Lukas grabbed the phone and rushed to the bathroom to make the call.

No one answered.

He was about to give up hope…

Until the phone suddenly rang.

Alex: "Hello, who is this?"

Lukas: "It's me… Lukas. Your blood brother."

Alex: "What?! Bro…"

Lukas: "Alex, you have to get me out of this prison."

Alex: "Prison?! What's going on?!"

Lukas: "I'll explain later. I just need to get out of this damned place."
