The elders bristled, low, angry murmurs cutting through the room as each of their faces housed a conflicted frown as to why the queen had breezed off, while each of their gazes remained fixed on the door.
"Shhh!" a female elder hushed everyone, her finger pressed to her lips. "Listen closely," she commanded. "Is that not the sound of a sirenling's gem?" she announced. In that moment the room fell silent, their ears to the ground, the room becoming eerily quiet as a melodious sound of a siren being born carried itself across the entire palace and resonated within them.
"That's strange," an elder whispered. "There was no record... no plans of a pregnant female or an expected sirenling," the elder clarified, his voice tight.
"So where is this sound coming from?" one of them demanded.
"I don't know. But I'm assuming that's where the queen went," the female elder concluded.
