Chapter 61 - Chapter 61: Vanity

Amelia knew that the moment the technology for converting Muggle items into magical items came out, the vanity of the pure-bloods of the wizarding world would work against the xenophobia they had created within their society.

At first, they would substitute the vanished elves with the preliminary items produced by Amelia's company, which would be overpriced. Then the only thing needed would be to release a rumour that the Muggles were using more advanced versions of the products they were currently using in their homes.

The pure-blood families would feel offended at the fact that they had never bought the newest product, making them venture into the Muggle world to get the newly released model. And unlike the wizarding world, which updated an already existing product once every decade with minimal extra features, the Muggles would sell the same product with new features and improvements within a few months. This, in turn, would force them to pay attention to the Muggle market so that they could buy and boast that they had the latest items. This would happen constantly due to Muggle innovations.

At the same time, the Muggle-born wizards who married into a few half-blood families would long for the comforts they had in the Muggle world that they were unable to use in the wizarding world due to the incompatibility of magic and machinery.

They would use Amelia's company to convert many machines into wizard-friendly items, which in turn would lead to the envy of other pure-blood families upon seeing the different items now being owned by Muggle-born and half-blood wizarding families.

This would increase the contact between Muggle civilisation and the wizarding world.

This, in turn, would force them to venture into the Muggle world so as to buy every product they saw in the hands of Muggles and then convert it into wizard-compatible products.

For them to do this, they would have to do their research and understand Muggle technology very well.

Through this, they would see the level the Muggles had reached compared to the development of the wizarding world. They would also see how long they would be able to hide themselves from Muggle technology.

They might be able to erase themselves from the memories of Muggles, but the cameras that were increasing in Muggle society would capture images of wizards doing magic. And unlike before, when the destruction of a physical tape ensured secrecy, the Muggles were able to replicate and share information very easily.

This would force the wizards to change their entire society to contend with the rising Muggle world.

'But it won't be that easy. It will give a lot of opportunities, but at the same time it will destroy many already existing industries of the wizarding world. While some will be trying their best to integrate with the Muggles after seeing their development, others will be more inclined toward radical thinking like Grindelwald in the world war era.'

Amelia looked around her table to find the objects of change already there. She looked at the quill and inkpot present on the table, then looked at the ballpoint pen she had bought when she had gone to the Muggle world to investigate.

'This pen does not even have any machinery that needs to be enchanted to be used by wizards,' she thought as she looked at it in her hand.

'I can already hear the houses handling the quill industry creating petitions for the Ministry to stop this mingling,' she sighed. 'But at the same time, it won't stop what is supposed to happen — or rather, I won't let it stop the young man's plans.'

Knock! Knock!

"Amelia, are you in there?" Moody called out from outside the room.

"Come in," Amelia said while hiding the pen inside a drawer.

Moody came inside the room while his magical eye went crazy, looking at every corner of the room. After all the wounds he had sustained throughout the years — some from those he had considered his comrades — he had made it a necessity to be constantly vigilant about everything, even while visiting someone he trusted.

Amelia knew about Moody's quirks and his reasons, so she waited for a few seconds until he sat on the chair on his own.

"Alright, Amelia, you need to give me some answers. I can see how much the Muggle world has progressed by discreetly tailing and observing their lives over the last few weeks. I can see why you view them as a sort of threat.

But what is the reason for asking me this now? I have known about it since the World Wars, when they used atomic bombs. Unlike the others, I kept an ear out for anything similar," Moody asked indignantly, as he considered this a waste of his time.

While Amelia was relieved that Moody already had an idea about the entire matter, the only reason even she had looked into it so seriously was because it had been told to her by the heir of the four founders of Hogwarts. If not for that, she would not have seen the truth herself because of the stereotypical thinking she was raised with. And there was no way to reveal that secret every time they wanted to convince someone of the plan. Auden was still too young to have that sort of spotlight on him, and Auden himself had no wish to reveal it unless absolutely necessary.

That was why she had chosen Moody to be the first person to whom she revealed part of the plan, as he was a bit more open-minded about things like this.

"Alright, Alastor. I told you to look into the Muggle world because I wanted you to have an idea about the things I am going to reveal to you. The coming time period is going to be chaotic for the entire wizarding world, and I might have a hand in it," Amelia started, which made Moody raise an eyebrow.

"I got a feeling I should not have accepted your request," Moody muttered as he prepared himself to listen to her.

A/N — Hope you liked it.
