The next few days pass in a blur.
Arieth still gives me a hard time, still appears at the taming quarters at random hours, batting her lashes at the Alpha, desperate to win his favor. Yet it never works. The Alpha sneers the moment he sees her, a low growl always rumbling from his chest.
He is not much better with me either. His words are sharp, his remarks always meant to cut, and too often they succeed. But I can tell he is growing used to my scent. That is something. That is how they all begin to cave.
Now I make my way to the taming quarters, dressed in the new uniform Arieth dropped off at my home last night. I think she feels threatened by me, why else would she arrive alone in the chill of night, with a dress she had chosen herself, one that hides every inch of skin, ordering me to wear nothing else?
