Chapter 71: The Darkness in the Heart
[After Kiana catches up to the indistinct shadow, the female voice, as promised, answers Kiana's question. She brings up the Second Eruption from fourteen years ago and explains Cecilia's identity to Kiana.
"STOP. It's almost dawn. Let's leave a little suspense~"
The woman deliberately leaves a cliffhanger.
The scene shifts to the library, where Kiana seems to have forgotten about the dream.]
"That damn Sirin! Why couldn't she be anything else but a riddle-man? What does the Second Eruption have to do with me? How old was I back then?" Kiana's fists hardened.
"The bigger question is why Sirin would appear in the idiot Kiana's dream, isn't it?" Bronya pointed out the blind spot.
"You're right," Kiana's eyes shone with a wisdom inherited directly from Theresa.
"I have a feeling the plot is setting up a big chess game," Fu Hua had a premonition that things were definitely not that simple.
"What's the problem? It was just a nightmare," Senti said dismissively.
"No, it's not just a nightmare. According to the plot so far, Kiana should have never met Sirin. How could she dream of her, unless..." Fu Hua seemed to have thought of something, like the post-credits scene from the first movie.
[Switching between reality and the dreamscape, Kiana, who was secretly battling it out with Bronya in a game in the library (slacking off), is soon caught by Mei and dragged by the ear to the training grounds for special training.
If Kiana fails this Valkyrie exam, forget about being promoted to an A-rank Valkyrie; she'll probably be demoted from B-rank to D-rank, responsible for paperwork and logistics.
She unexpectedly runs into Fu Hua, who is training diligently at the training grounds. After finishing the combat part of the special training, Fu Hua once again takes Kiana back to the library and begins tutoring her on cultural subjects.
Fu Hua expertly explains the origin of Stigmata.
This greatly surprises Kiana. "Really? You say it so seriously, as if you've seen it yourself, Class Monitor."
"...You're joking. I've only read about it in books," Fu Hua said modestly.]
"She's more than seen it herself; she's lived since the Previous Era," Pardofelis, who had been trembling from the dream scene, laughed out loud watching the awkwardness of Fu Hua's model on the screen.
"You don't have to keep bringing that up," Fu Hua had been enduring "verbal abuse" from those around her ever since her character background was revealed.
"Schicksal can actually replicate Stigmata and create artificial ones. No wonder there are so many Valkyrie troops. But what exactly are Stigmata?" Sakura asked, puzzled.
"Big sis, you're so slow. Didn't Big Sis Fu Hua up there just say? Stigmata are the power left behind by outstanding figures in ancient history," Rin waved her hand as if to say it was nothing.
Sakura smiled gently. "Thank you for telling me, little sister."
If one ignored the hands viciously pinching little Rin's cheeks, it was a scene that truly made one marvel at the depth of sisterly love.
"Mmmph... ig is, I'm wong... et go of my fae..."
[After arduous training at the training grounds, Kiana encounters Himeko and Theresa. After their identical expressions of surprise, she leaves the training grounds in a huff.
Theresa frowns at the alcohol-reeking Himeko. "Himeko, you should drink less. After all, your body..."
"Alright, let's not talk about such downers."]
"Oh no, there's a knife!" (A death flag)
"I know there's a knife, so why not dodge it? Because I'm not afraid! Why am I not afraid? I'm just not!"
"I refuse to believe it. Go on, make me cry again. Anyway, I heard the scriptwriter for this movie isn't Welt~"
The hint was so obvious that even a tuna could see it.
"Darned old uncle, you're not going to write off Auntie Himeko, are you?" Kiana scratched her head.
"There's a high probability," Bronya agreed.
"Wait, if Auntie Himeko goes offline, does that mean no one in the plot will force me to study?" Kiana's eyes were full of wisdom.
"Kiana, what are you thinking?!" Himeko, sitting in the row in front of them, turned her neck with a robotic creak, her eyes already glowing red.
"Auntie Himeko, I was wrong!"
Ignoring the clowning Kiana, the audience once again turned their attention to the screen.
[At night, Kiana, dressed lightly, is once again lying on her soft, large bed. But the next second, she hears Mei calling out to her. When she opens her eyes, Mei, dressed in her Valkyrie armor, appears before her.
And what's most eye-catching is that Mei's pupils are golden, and her voice is identical to Sirin's.
"Who are you?!" Kiana asks.
"I am the ghost of your past, the nightmare you cannot escape."
Kiana watches as Mei, Himeko, and Theresa appear one by one, their words a mix of truth and lies, but extremely vicious. It's worth noting that all their voices are Sirin's.
Kiana refuses to believe that the people closest to her would say such things to her.
Sirin's voice continues to entice. If she submits to her, she will gain everyone's recognition, become an S-rank Valkyrie... no, that power is too insignificant. She will grant her a power beyond imagination.
"Shut up! You liar!"
Soon, the day breaks.]
"I would never say such things to Kiana," Mei, watching her own body on screen say such vicious things to Kiana, was also a little angry, despite her gentle nature.
"Although I don't know my true thoughts in the plot, I feel that my concern for Kiana, Mei, and Bronya in the story is not fake," Himeko shook her head, refusing to believe that her in-movie self was all an act.
"I know that! Mei would definitely not say such things to me, and while Auntie Himeko is strict with me, she's definitely not just monitoring me," Kiana took the opportunity to snuggle into Mei's embrace.
"Kiana..." Mei was a little shy. After all, this was a public place, completely different from being in the dorm.
"According to the plot's timeline, Auntie Cecilia was pregnant in 1998, and Kiana's birthday is December 7th. From entering the battlefield on February 15, 2000, there was at least a year of recovery time. Plus, with the physique of an S-rank Valkyrie, it's unlikely that Sirin's claim of her combat power being reduced due to giving birth to Kiana is true," Bronya deduced.
Sitting in the back row, Pardofelis poked Kalpas and whispered, "Kalpas, they're watching so intently. Why can't I deduce anything?"
"Hmph," Kalpas just let out a cool snort.
Pardofelis was disappointed. It seemed that trying to chat with Kalpas was her mistake.
