Chapter 49 - "Clash of Kings: A Hunter's Game."

"What... what the hell just happened?"

A flicker of shock passed through Gilgamesh's eyes.

Sure, the weapons he'd just fired were some of the weaker ones in his treasury…

But still, no way should they have been destroyed this easily.

Just who the hell was this Servant?

As those glowing notifications popped up, Minato's eyes lit up. He looked at Gilgamesh with a whole new expression.

Damn, no wonder they call him the Golden King. Guy's a walking treasure chest.

That settles it.

Before killing him—let's squeeze out some more experience first.

"You filthy demon!"

Gilgamesh roared, his fury boiling over. "Who gave you permission to look at me like that?!"

He knew that look well. It was the same one he used when eyeing prey he deemed worthy. An appraising, hungry gaze.

But he was the oldest king. The mightiest ruler.

How dare anyone look at him that way?!

"Die!!"

With a deafening roar, blinding light exploded outwards. An unending stream of Noble Phantasms surged forward like a tidal wave, all aimed at Minato.

Crack!

Blue lightning split the sky. Terrifying arcs of electricity danced wildly, tearing Gil's treasures to pieces.

"You know," Minato said casually as he floated up into the air, "if you're gonna be an XP loot mob, at least know your place."

His eyes turned icy cold. "Even if I'm farming you for loot, you still need a proper beatdown first."

The words had barely left his mouth when his body vanished like a streak of lightning, appearing directly in front of Gilgamesh.

"So fast—!"

Gilgamesh's eyes widened. Before he could react, Minato's palm was already zooming in toward his face.

SMACK!

Gil's face snapped to the side, swelling up instantly. As his body started to fly back—

SMACK!

A second slap hit the other cheek, perfectly symmetrical.

Gilgamesh flew like a cannonball, crashing through a nearby shipping container with a thunderous BOOM.

"..."

Everyone watching had the same reaction—staring in stunned silence, the corners of their mouths twitching.

Especially Tohsaka Tokiomi, who was monitoring the fight remotely from his mansion. His expression changed dramatically.

He knew.

This proud king of his… was about to lose control.

BOOM!

The container exploded, and Gilgamesh—his face now a swollen pig's head—stepped out, eyes burning with freezing rage.

"I'll kill you!"

"I swear I'll kill you!"

"I'll make you wish you were never born!"

He stretched out a hand behind him as golden light erupted from the Gate of Babylon, an overwhelming aura pressing down hard.

But right then, his face twisted in anger."Damn you… ordering me to retreat now? You've got some serious nerve!"

"Damn it all...!"

Gilgamesh screamed in frustration, but there was no resisting the power of Tohsaka Tokiomi's Command Seal. He had no choice but to vanish in a flash of golden light, unwilling and furious.

"Retreating already?"Iskandar watched the scene unfold and called out, "Hey, demon buddy! It's just the first day—no need to go all out so soon. I'll head out for now too."

And with that, he grabbed Waver, jumped onto his chariot, and soared into the night sky.

"Well then, I'll be taking my leave too."

Artoria hesitated for a second and turned to leave—but then froze.

Someone had just used a Command Seal on her.

Launching a sneak attack like this went against everything she believed in as a king.

And yet, even as she tried to resist, her body moved on its own.

Swish!

In a split second, Artoria became a blur. Her invisible sword slashed through the air, aiming straight for Minato.

At the same time—

A gunshot rang out.

Emiya Kiritsugu, who'd been keeping a close eye on the battlefield, finally made his move.

Using Artoria to hold Minato's attention.

And targeting Medusa instead.

No matter how strong a Servant is—if their Master dies, they're out of the game.

BOOM!

With a thunderous impact, Minato easily blocked Artoria's blade.

He looked off into the distance, eyes cold and indifferent.

As for Medusa?

Not even worried.

If a Servant like her could get taken out by a sneak attack, that would be the real surprise.

Sure enough—

Just as the bullet closed in, Medusa casually leaped out of the way, dodging it with ease.

"S-Sorry..."

Artoria's ahoge drooped as she looked at Minato, clearly ashamed. "This wasn't my choice."

"I know," Minato replied with a faint smile. While pushing her back, his eyes turned ice-cold."But someone out there? Needs to die."

His voice thundered like rolling clouds.

A massive magic circle lit up in the sky. The entire night filled with lightning, crackling and flashing, until it all focused into one massive bolt that ripped through the heavens.
