Lachlan's smile was immediate and smug as he looked at Sera. "And yet you still love me."
The moment he opened his mouth, she leaned forward and kissed him.
It wasn't gentle. Not at first.
It was warm and sure and practiced, the kind of kiss that didn't ask questions because it already knew the answers. Lachlan made a pleased sound against her mouth and curled his arm around her waist, pulling her closer until her knees pressed the edge of the mattress on either side of his legs.
Sera broke the kiss for a brief second only to murmur, "Of course I love you. But one more comment about a fourth child and you're doing the whole bedtime routine for a month."
Lachlan's eyes lit like a boy who'd just been handed a weapon he liked. "It would be so worth it."
Sera leaned in again, bit lightly at his lower lip—just enough to make him inhale sharply—and then she pulled back with a small, satisfied smile.
That was when Aerenyx moved.
