Chapter 1 - CHAPTER 1: SUDDEN BLACKOUT

The silence was the first thing that felt wrong. It wasn't the peaceful quiet of a high-end bedroom; it was a heavy, pressurized stillness, like the world had held its breath and forgotten to let it out.

The room was quiet, save for the faint hum of a fan that sat atop a nearby dresser and in the center of the room stood a large four poster bed like a solitary island in the sea of darkness and on the bed lay a woman, motionless, her body curled up under the thick white sheet, eyes shut tightly, her breathing shallow and uneven.

After a while,a smile suddenly curved on her lips as she turned to her side, she was repelling in her slumber the last lovely moments she'd just had with him.

In the dream, she was seen hugging and kissing him in a room, his hands protectively and lovingly strapped around her petite waste as he kissed her back with the same passion, the same need. Things where just about to get heated up but then she suddenly stopped him and made him look her in the eyes as she cupped his face.

" I missed you Alex " she confessed with steamy eyes

" I missed you so much " she repeated in her tiny angelic voice.

The man's lips curled into a perverty smirk as his hands around her waist pulled her even closer to the point In which they were now sharing body heat. his dangerous grey eyes stared right into hers with a generous amount of love and lust at the same time,he was just about to open his lips and say the same words to her but suddenly, an earth shattering sound that caused the ground to shake heavily suddenly interrupted their loving moment.

This incident suddenly caused the man's eyes to snap open in awareness and alertness causing the love and lust in his eyes to suddenly disappear with no trace as what had now replaced it was a sharp, stern, and dangerous look as he quickly reached out for his gun at the side of his pants.

Mira was terrified

'Had war come'!!?

but before she could ask him anything , another bone chilling sound came on again, this time louder than the first one,off which was suddenly followed by a series of heavy gunshots and chilling screams from outside, before Mira could react to the second sound something from above hit her and it was a blackout.

" Alexxxx " she subconsciously called out before her eyes snapped open

Mira opened her eyes to a ceiling of brushed steel and recessed LED strips that glowed with a clinical, dim blue light. This wasn't their apartment in the city. There was no hum of distant traffic, no chirp of birds—only the faint, rhythmic thrum of a massive ventilation system buried deep underground.

She quickly sat up, her head throbbing. The bed was draped in high-thread-count linens, but the walls were reinforced titanium alloy. A single glass of water sat on the nightstand next to a digital clock that read 02:12 AM.

" Alex "

she whispered again with her big round eyes still scanning the slightly dim room which had just the king mattress she lay on and a small table at the side, the room was just so unimaginably plain, even the two windows in the room had been completely sealed up for some unknown reasons, leaving no traces of the outside world.

At that time,Mira had so many questions running through her head but first things first, she had to find Alex!!. Her hand moved to her head as she suddenly felt a sharp pain,it was then she realized her head had been bandaged,

She was just about to scramble her way out of the bed when her still half awake eyes unconsciously fell to the army jacket beside her. Looking at the familiar jacket, she quickly reached out to it and the moment she inhaled its scent and saw the crested name on it,Mira finally released the breath she didn't know she had been holding all the while as a sudden wave of peace suddenly washed over her.

She held the jacket close to her chest, almost tearing up,it seemed he was the one who put her in bed which meant he was fine but nevertheless, she still had to find him as she had so many questions as to what had happened? where was this and why were they here?

The last thing she remembered was Alex holding her so close with a pervert smirk plastered on his drop dead handsome face,it felt like he was about to say something really romantic but was suddenly interrupted by a really loud crashing sound that shook the ground like an earthquake of which was followed by the grave look on Alex's face but before she could react,it was a sudden blackout.

she stood up from the bed and proceeded to search for the exit door but then her eyes suddenly darted to the meticulously sealed windows and once again her curiosity grew, why were these windows sealed in this manner?

Driven by a desperate need for a glimpse of the horizon, Mira scanned the room and sighted a heavy, three-legged metal stool that sat near a fixed desk. She moved it toward the windows, swiftly and quietly.

She climbed up, her legs trembling. At the very top of the window slit, there was a tiny gap where the plating didn't quite meet the concrete—a peep hole no wider than a pencil.

She pressed her eye to the gap.

She expected to see the base's tarmac, or perhaps the familiar silhouette of the city skyline in the distance. Instead, she saw nothing. It was a darkness so absolute it felt physical, like ink pressed against the building. There were no stars, no moon, and no perimeter floodlights. It was as if the world outside had simply ceased to exist.

As she stared, trying to make sense of the void, the air in the room seemed to thin. The temperature dropped. She didn't see a face; she didn't see a shape. But she felt a sudden, piercing pressure behind her eyes, as if the vacuum outside was trying to pull her soul through the hole.

A sensation of pure, predatory malice washed over her. Someone—or something—was standing just inches away on the other side of that reinforced wall, staring back into the exact same crack.

The hair on her arms stood on end. Violent goosebumps erupted across her skin, and a primal "flight" instinct she had never felt before took control of her limbs.

She scrambled down the stool, nearly falling as it tipped over. Her heart was a frantic hammer against her ribs. She didn't stop to think; she didn't grab her shoes. She bolted for the heavy door, slamming her hand against the door knob sensor, desperate to find Alex and figure out what was happening.
