Chapter 35 - Chapter Thirty-Five: Two Lives, One Heart

NOVA BASE – TRAINING SIMULATION ROOM – EVENING

Daiki stood alone, glaring at the inactive morpher on the shelf.

He paced back and forth, frustrated. He wanted to help. The team was out there, risking everything, and he was grounded like a kid.

DAIKI (to himself)I'm not just some tag-along. I'm part of this team.

He sat down… and the lights around him flickered. Then the room darkened.

ZEVOR (over speakers)Simulation mode activated: "Choice of Two Worlds." Initiated by—unknown trigger.

DAIKIHuh?

Suddenly, the walls shifted—and Daiki stood not in the base, but…

EXT. ORION HIGH – COURTYARD – MIDDAY (SIMULATION)

The school was buzzing. Students chatted, teachers passed by, and in the center of it all was Daiki—a version of him sitting on a bench, laughing with classmates.

He was... happy. Normal.

Then came a siren. A monster appeared across town—but in this world, Daiki didn't have his morpher.

DAIKI(watching)Wait—where's my gear?

ZEVOR (narrating)Path One: You choose normal life. You make friends. Study. Laugh. But when the city calls, someone else fights… and sometimes loses.

Daiki watched helplessly as the simulation showed the Rangers—short one member—struggling. One of them fell.

DAIKINo, no. I'd never just sit it out!

SHIFT: EXT. CITY STREETS – FUTURE SIMULATION

Now, Daiki stood among a pile of shattered schoolbooks. His room was a mess. His grades had plummeted.

But he was morphed. Always in battle. Always moving.

And then—his friends began vanishing. The simulation classmates ignored him.

His teacher's voice echoed:

"You're slipping away, Daiki."

Then Lyra's voice:

"This isn't being a Ranger. This is running from your life."

ZEVORPath Two: Full combat dedication. No balance. No roots. The war is endless. The identity… hollow.

DAIKI (angry)Then what's the right answer?! I can't just split in two!

SHIFT: INT. DAWN – SIMULATED MEMORY

Daiki stood at the edge of a cliff—beside Lyra, overlooking the city below. She wasn't scolding. Just being there.

LYRA (memory version)You don't stop being Daiki just because you're a Ranger.

She handed him a school notebook. Inside were sketches of tech designs—his own inventions—alongside neat notes.

LYRAYou're both. The world needs both.

ZEVOR (gently)True Sentinels learn balance. Courage in battle. Responsibility outside it.

INT. NOVA BASE – SIM ROOM – RETURN TO PRESENT

The room returned to normal. Daiki stood there, frozen, breathing hard.

His morpher remained on the shelf.

He picked it up—then also picked up his backpack.

DAIKI (softly)Homework first. Training after.

INT. ORION HIGH – EVENING CLASSROOM

Later that day, Daiki sat at a desk, scribbling furiously on a worksheet. He looked focused. Present.

A student tapped his shoulder.

CLASSMATEHey, you're not skipping today?

DAIKI (smiling slightly)Nah. I still have math.

INT. NOVA BASE – NIGHT

Lyra entered the base, surprised to find Daiki already there—gear on, homework folder neatly closed on the table.

LYRA(teasing)Studied first?

DAIKI(grinning)Yup. Finished and I helped Zayn rewire the Nova Skip.

KAEL(passing by)Look at you. Responsible and dangerous.

They laughed. Daiki smiled—not because he was a Ranger, but because he was learning how to be Daiki—fully.
