The only natural light that entered the makeshift workspace was through the crack on the cave's ceiling. It was already demeaning for those who belonged in Eden to shift everything down to Nede. Different groups were assigned caves and burrows to shift into, and these were dark, unclean spaces that had no supply of light nor nectar.
But the beings of the holy system made it work. They produced their own light and trapped them in little bottles and ran around helping each other.
This was how they were governing the world on earth right now.
Only the holy beings had the privilege of governing most of the world. The holy gods were fragments of the God of All Good, and each fragment governed each domain, like Domain of 4 legged animals, Domain of Infants, Domain of girls with D cup, Domain of girls with glasses, Domain of boys taller than 6 feet, Domain of men who are bald, Domain of women going through menopause, Domain of Birds who can Fly, Domain of Birds who can not Fly… you get it. There was a whole Domain in Eden for every small thing, and the assigned groups kept these domains running.
When the groups fail to meet their quotas, these domains face problems and become vulnerable and at worst, go extinct.
The Fragments and angels under them and the stewards under them would all get reassigned to lower positions in other related domains.
And a Special Rescue Domain team would be created by adding a few talented beings from all groups to hopefully try and bring back the extinct domain.
If the holy beings work so hard, then what do the evil beings do? For surely, there's a lot of evil teeming in the world we know. Yes, there is a lot of evil, which tries to disrupt and reverse the hard work that the holy beings do on a daily basis.
That is their job. Though evil beings do not have an organized and countless number of domains to facilitate anti-forced against the holy beings, they do have 'Gangs,' like underground mafias on earth that fight against the government and also against each other.
Some Gangs… They also work with the government behind the scenes…so that one Gang can gain advantage over another Gang, but in a way that's beneficial to the government… but we won't talk about that now.
However, all that you read right now would soon completely be useless, because Eden was completely destroyed, forcing all the holy beings to shift into the residence of the evil beings: Nede.
The size of Nede grew as more people on Earth died. The dead spirits all automatically descended into Nede, where they would undergo scanning and checks. If they were liked by the beings of Nede, they'd keep the spirit in Nede. But if Nede didn't like them, they'd torture the spirit until they gave in, threatening to sent them to Gehenna.
If they still resisted the Nede officer's bouts and insults, they would be sent to the gates of Eden: or what we call heaven.
The rules of Nede and Eden are simple. You cannot gain anything without passing some kind of test. And all tests were designed for you to fail.
Even after a dead spirit reached the gates of Eden, it wasn't the end of the journey. Over there too, the stewards were assigned to read out to you every single sin you committed during your time on earth, which would suddenly seem incredibly short after you've sat through the entire hearing, which would last several hundred earth years.
The holy beings' sense of time and an Earth spirit's sense of time were hugely different, since they technically still belonged to 'Earth.' So while it only seems like an hour of interrogation to the stewards, it would feel excruciating for the spirit.
If the spirit failed to pass the interrogation, they would be dropped back to Nede, outcast and unwanted, where they had one final chance to appeal to the evil beings. If they do, they get to roam around in Nede on their own and somehow make a life. If they don't, they are sent to the dungeons of Nede, which are guarded by low-grade stewards of Eden.
It works more like a correction camp facility. If you have a good record and prepare good answers for the interrogation in Eden, you get another chance at the interrogation. If you don't, you're stuck in the dungeon for a long, long time.
Every now and then, there is dungeon cleaning, because even though Nede expands every time an Earth being dies, it is not the dungeon that expands, but some other part of Nede.
If you have not earned a chance at interrogation before the cleaning, you are thrown to Gehenna.
That was how the journey of a spirit proceeded after they met deadly ends on Earth. The reason I can share this information with you so freely now, is that it really doesn't matter now. Everything you read would be useless.
Every religion practiced on Earth is also useless. Every dream you have, every relationship you're trying to fix, it's all going to be worth nothing if everything goes the way it is going now.
And that's what I'm here to tell you. No one asked, I know. But it is important for you to know.
This story, of the end of Eden. The end of holiness in the world, and the ruthless, ceaseless overtake of evil. The story of how no one called it 'Yin and Yang,' anymore, but 'Yang and Yin.'
And it all started with a devil who dared to dream.
He slowly walked into the cave, his hands in the pockets of his pants, tailored by talented nomads that loved to sleep with him so much that they knew all his measurements by heart.
Several holy beings turned their heads to glance at who had entered and whipped their heads right away as they realized that he was not just evil, but also a god of evil.
His eyes landed on one steward, a small, chubby delicate thing that had just started to grow tiny wings at her back. She had a white tunic, dirtied from the shift, draped around her and fastened tightly at her waist and shoulder.
He leaned down to meet her eye level.
"This is the Domain of 16 year old girls right?"
The being trembled. Those who ran a particular domain also resembled the type of Earth being they were controlling. If you worked in a Domain of Eggs That Did Not Hatch, the stewards and angels and the Fragment governing them also looked like eggs.
But this being wasn't just a 16 year old girl.
"That- that-" her words stumbled as she struggled to lock eyes with him. "That's a Greater Domain. This is a small sub-domain," she finally explained. "16 Year Old Girls Without Families."
He nodded as if it made sense and looked around trying to pick out some kind of leader. "Are there only stewards here? I need to talk to an angel, or the Fragment you work under."
"That- that-" she looked around to see any help from her colleagues, but they all averted their gaze and continued clicking and typing away on their systems.
"Leave my steward alone," a loud powerful sound echoed from the innermost part of the cave.
He stood up straight and met the bright, golden eyes of another 16 year old looking girl that stared back at him, unlike his dark ochre ones that only meagerly reflected the light around him.
Large, white wings erupted from both her shoulders and the latter half of it wrapped around her gracefully, covering every single inch of her body.
"Are you an angel? Or a Fragment," He tilted his head, trying to decipher which. It wasn't like he saw the holy beings everyday.
"It doesn't matter, I'm the one who requested you."
He grinned, canines glinting against the golden light, "So just an angel. What is it? How does a small irrelevant Domain like yours get the special attention of the God of All Evil that he sends his most coveted soldier," he placed a hand on his own chest, "the Great God of Sins, to assist?"
Several sneers passed around him as they heard him announce his title so proudly. He looked around and realized that these people didn't fear him. They were disgusted.
"Filth," the angel's voice resounded again, one side of her lip curling up, "We are in this issue because of the negligence of your people. The girls under our governance haven't met their quota of committed sins for 4 earth months consecutively. If they don't commit enough sins and reach their quotas before the Solstice, in the next eight months, all of them will die."
He grinned wider, "Great! More space for you on Nede! Trust me, I think your people need it."
"You do not understand. I know this is a small sub-domain governing only around 4 million girls. But not meeting the quota will result in 4 million spirits entering Nede in one go. They will flood the gates and go beyond what Nede can handle. These spirits will roam Nede uncontrolled, grow like weeds here, and we cannot control who goes into Gehenna and who does not. Trust me," she mimicked him to hopefully make him realise, "This is not good for your people either."
He frowned, as he tried to make sense of it. 16 year old girls causing the destruction of Nede? He didn't know why Eden had been destroyed, but it hadn't been due to some girls.
But he thought maybe the angel was right, the God of All Evil wouldn't send him to them otherwise.
4 million spirits in one go…their threads of life cut when they least expected it. This would also probably mean…
"What about the invisible Strings attached to these girls then?"
"Yes," the angel nodded, as if she just remembered, "4 million more other Earth beings attached to the girls would also die. 8 million spirits all at once. Do you think Nede can handle it?"
