The weather has been sunny for the past few days. A luxury car drove at a moderate speed. Sheng Xia looked at the few mansions that she passed from inside the vehicle. Her lip's corner lifted slightly.
Not bad, she thought.
This residence's area was quite famous since many wealthy families, government officials, and celebrities lived here. It's not far from the city's center, too. Too bad, it's far from her sister's house.
But, well, we will see whether she will stay here for real or just for only a month. We will see.
Not long after Sheng Xia ended her thoughts, the car drove into a villa. After the car stopped in front of the villa's entrance, Sheng Xia waited for the driver to open the car's door for her, but after a minute had passed, she realized that the driver had pulled out her old travel bag from the car and stood beside the car, unmoving, frowning.
Sheng Xia sneered. Turned out, this driver looked down on her. Well, with her appearance today, nobody in the wealthy circle would have any positive reaction.
On her head, her hair looked more like a bird's nest than human hair. On her face, an old pair of full-frame glasses hung on her nose. On her body, she wore an old one-piece long-sleeve dress which it's color of yellow almost turn white. She also wore a pair of knee-length socks and a pair of old vintage shoes.
She looked like a village girl through and through. And she, Sheng Xia, was very satisfied with her appearance today. In her twenty-two years of life, this is not the first time she has tried to look like a timid, bookish, and unattractive girl. After all, her angelic sister was quite fond of disguising.
Sheng Xia got out of the car on her own and walked to the villa, her every move showed a country bumpkin characteristic while seeing something luxurious. As she expected, the driver's expression showed disgust. Sheng Xia scoffed in her heart. If even the driver acted like this, then it was a big probability that the so-called biological family of hers also thought so.
When Sheng Xia entered the villa, a man in a black suit showed up. "Young Miss Xia, welcome."
Sheng Xia dropped her head, looking timid. "H, hello. Are you my father?"
When this question came out of her mouth, the man furrowed his eyebrows. "No. I'm the butler of the Cheng household. Master is still on a business trip. He will be back in the country next week. Madam attends Young Master Zhen's school today. And Young Miss An is also still in school. I will show you your room first. Follow me."
After that, the so-called butler turned his body and walked away without waiting for her response. Sheng Xia while dropping her head, scoffed again, not know, how many times she already did that today.
This family sure is something, Sheng Xia thought. Turned out, being biological doesn't mean anything.
"This is your room. It has been prepared for you. Dinner will be served at 7 in the dining room on the first floor. If you don't understand anything, you can ask the maid or me. Anything you want to ask?" asked the Butler in a monotone voice.
"No." Sheng Xia shook her head.
Accepting Sheng Xia's reply, the Butler left the bedroom in a quick step.
Sheng Xia walked to the door and closed it. She looked at her so-called bedroom. With how luxurious this villa is, this room, intended for a young miss's bedroom, looked so small. Indeed, there was an in-suite bathroom, but there was no wardrobe or pantry. The interior style was also so last year. She wondered what The Young Miss An's bedroom looked like. Is it the same as hers or...
Hmm, she is curious.
At 7 on the dot, Sheng Xia arrived at the dining room, but no one was there. Sheng Xia took a seat on the left side of the table. Not long after, the butler who Sheng Xia didn't know his name yet came.
"Madam, Young Miss An and Young Master Zhen cannot come tonight. So you will dine alone. The dinner will be served shortly." After saying those sentences, the butler walked away without waiting for her response, again.
Sheng Xia started to wonder where this butler graduated from. He is so uneducated. If her butler acted like that toward any of her family or guests, she would fire them immediately.
Sheng Xia train of thought cut off when the dinner was served on the table by the maids. One of her eyebrows lifted, wondering what was wrong with this family. On the table, there is a lot of food, but none of it is Country C cuisine. Are they trying to show off, or do they just not like their own home-country cuisine?
Sheng Xia sighed. Tonight will be a long night for her, trying to act like an idiot, not knowing how to eat these dishes.
After dinner, Sheng Xia toured the villa and found out that this villa was quite new. Not more than two years old after being acquired. Remember the files that she read before coming here, Sheng Xia laughed. That biological father of hers was quite lucky.
Tired after touring the villa for an hour, Sheng Xia entered her room and started to do her bedtime routine. Looking at a row of unbranded bottles that were filled with various skincare products of hers, Sheng Xia giggled. No one would be able to guess the contents of these bottles.
After finishing her bedtime routine, Sheng Xia climbed into her queen-sized bed. She logged into her phone, and on the chat app, it had already shown 99+. She opened it and started to laugh when looking at the chaos in the group chat.
At first, the members talked about her matters, and they worried she would be lonely. But just in less than thirty chat, the content changed into a battlefield. Sheng Xia found out that her sister wanted to start a business in baby clothing. Everyone wanted to help, but a clash happened as they pointed out that most of them had not yet had a child or even been married.
Sheng Xia closed the group chat and started to prepare for sleeping. That night, Sheng Xia fell asleep while feeling disappointed.
It seemed she wouldn't stay in this villa for long.
