Chapter 15 - 15 Our Little Xia

Sheng Xia changed her clothes into a comfy t-shirt and short pants. She also took off her wig and her glasses. Sheng Xia looked at her reflection in the mirror and sneered. It only took her less than 24 hours to feel comfortable taking off her disguise. So different when she was in the Cheng's mansion.

Sheng Xia started to feel nervous. What would the Shen's elders do when they saw her real appearance?

Sheng Xia took a deep breath and walked out of her bedroom. She almost slipped when she saw both her grandparents in front of the door.

Sheng Xia opened her mouth, but nothing came out. She bit her lips and turned her sight to the side.

Both the elders looked at Sheng Xia's new look. Their eyes started to tear up.

So similar! They thought.

The Old Madam laughed. "Oh my! Look at her! So pretty!"

The Old Man nodded. "The Lunch is ready!"

"Yes, yes! We have tomato noodles and spicy fried tofu." The Old Madam grabbed Sheng Xia's hand and escorted her to the dining room. No one spoke about her different appearance, making Sheng Xia feel less awkward.

"They look appetizing!" Sheng Xia smiled at the row of food on the table.

The Old Man took a seat on one side and invited Sheng Xia to sit beside him. Sheng Xia accepted the offer, and the Old Madam sat on her other side. Sheng Xia smiled when she saw that they sat on both her sides.

"Let's eat!" The Old Man put a spicy fried tofu on Sheng Xia's bowl. "Try this. One of my sons loves this dish."

The Old Madam didn't want to lose, so she put a bowl of tomato noodles near Sheng Xia's rice bowl. "Try this too. Nanny Li was good at making homemade noodles."

Sheng Xia's smile widened. She scooped up the spicy fried tofu. "It is delicious!"

"Good, good." The Old Man laughed.

Next, Sheng Xia slurped the tomato noodles without making any noise. "This is also delicious! Mr. Shen, Mrs. Shen, you have a good chef!"

Both the elders laughed, their eyes glimmered with happiness. "Just asked them to prepare any dish you like! If the taste doesn't suit you, I will hire another chef for you."

Sheng Xia grinned. "Sure! I wouldn't be polite!"

That lunch ended with three of them feeling satisfied and happy. The Old Madam invited Sheng Xia to tour the mansion. The Old Man pouted when his assistant came to him and told him there was something that needed his insight.

The Old Man grumbled, wondering if two of his sons were not capable enough to handle the matter. Sheng Xia assured Shen Jiangze that she would accompany him in playing Go. Hearing the promise, the Old Man finally left with a smile.

The Old Madam sneered, "Does he forget his age or what?"

Sheng Xia giggled. "Having a young heart is also good."

"Hmph! Him? Having a young heart? You're probably right."

Sheng Xia and Mrs. Shen, whose name was Xu Jiarou, walked around the mansion. While Old Madam explained the reason behind the mansion, Sheng Xia commented on the wise decision of the madam.

The Old Madam was so happy, she almost didn't realize she was feeling tired when Sheng Xia pointed it out.

Old Madam laughed happily. "Oh, these old bones!"

Sheng Xia smiled worriedly. "Let's sit on the balcony. We can have a tea time together while waiting for Mr. Shen."

"You are right. Let's have a tea time. We have a lot of good teas. You can pick the one you like."

Sheng Xia grinned. "I don't know much about tea, but I would like oolong with milk."

Old Madam shook her head. "Young Generation and their obsession with milk tea."

The two women walked to the nearest pavilion and sat on the chairs. Not long after, a few maids brought the tea and some cakes with them. Sheng Xia poured tea to her cup and drank it slowly.

"Hmm, nice pu-er tea."

One of the maids poured a cup of tea for the Old Madam, and another one picked another pot and poured it into a cup, and added some milk into it. Then, she put the cup near Sheng Xia.

"Thank you! I will try that next."

Old Madam coughed. "If you don't mind, can I ask where you live right now?"

"I live with my adoptive parents in Country A right now. Sometimes we also lived in Country S, depending on my itinerary. They always worried about me; most of the time, they followed me everywhere," said Sheng Xia, while laughing happily.

Old Madam smiled and felt grateful that this child had a warm home, even though she wasn't with them before. "That's good, that's good."

"One time, my Dad's assistant came to me while crying, saying that my Dad had left the document unattended. Since then, I took over my Dad's company, and he lives happily right now. Aside from following me, he took my Mom on vacation a lot." Sheng Xia shook her head. "Well, he already provided for me in those years, so I think it's time for him to enjoy his hard work."

"You are a good child," said the Old Madam, feeling proud.

"Thank you, Mrs. Shen."

An hour later, the Old Man finally finished his work and joined them. Then he asked the butler to bring his Go board out. For the next two hours, the Old Man pouted, then laughed, then grumbled, then laughed again. He won once, but he knew Sheng Xia was being kind to him. He was also happy that he finally had a capable opponent aside from his stinky second son.

After having tea time, they strolled through the flower garden, feeding fish, writing calligraphy, and having dinner.

That night, Sheng Xia lay on her bed, looked at her phone, and smiled. On the phone screen, there was a photo of her with both the Shen's elders. The three of them laughed happily in the photo.

Sheng Xia chatted with Elaine and Zhao Jingfeng happily and fell asleep while smiling.

The next two days, Sheng Xia could feel what it felt like living with the Shens. Both the Elders spoiled her so much and accompanied her through many activities together. Finally, the third day came.

They arrived at the laboratory on time.

The doctor gave them the sealed document. The Old Man tore the seal and flipped the document, page by page. On the last page, he saw his relationship percentage with Sheng Xia. Then she flipped the second document and saw his wife's relationship percentage.

Both of them immediately hugged Sheng Xia on both sides, crying while muttering, "Our Little Xia".

Sheng Xia also teared up.

Turned out, she was wanted too.
